Xception 5.0(drill ??)
« on: August 26, 2006, 04:06:25 PM »
brand new, given to me, Pin 2" TW 2 3/4oz.

how should i lay it out?  was thinking of having
it skid/snap, just to see what it could do.  or was
thinking of having it drilled with pin somewhere to the
right of ring finger to get full flare potential.  was also
thinking of having pin somewhere above & between fingers in
a 5-5 1/2" from PAP.  not to familiar with all this new jazzy
stuff you have to do to the balls.  but it was given to me free
and just wanted to do a "what the heck" drill to see what it could
do.  not sure what each drill will do...anyone suggestions?

Gunny,

The 5.0 is one of the more difficult balls to suggest a layout for. Some of us saw tremendous backend out of the ball and others saw it as more of a smooth/benchmark kind of ball.

I had mine drilled with the under my bridge and MB in the number 3 position and it was stronger in the backend than my Xception.

Basically....I would just put your favorite layout on the ball and see how it works for you.

Goodluck,
Carl

Hey gunny,

With the 2 inch pin, I'd place it under bridge and kick the mb out between #2 and #3 on our drill sheet (the one with only 3 mb positionings).  Basically it should end up where CMD stated, about 45 degrees from pin angle.

I had better success with this ball on true medium conditions, it does not like heavy oil but moves well when it can sniff some dry.  Hope this helps some...

if i went with a label leverage, 3 3/8 x 5, what
type of reaction would i be looking at? is it possible?

given to me free so i figure to try something different.

Gunny,

Label leverage on the 5.0 is not the type of label leverage you are used to. Don't forget that the 5.0 is asymmetrical....so the 2 things you have to be concerned with in placment is the PIN and MB, CG location will not matter other than a weighthole.

Hey Gunny,

That would put us back at 3 3/8 pin and 3 3/8 mb....
