ALB. hotels

Anyone stay at Crosslands Economy Studios NE, Extended Stay America-Airport, LA Quinta I-40 east, Super 8's?  I'm trying to find a cheap hotel that I won't get shot or robbed at.

When do you bowl?  The hotels right near the airport on Sunport Rd. are pretty safe, but you'll probably pay a little extra.  A few of my friends stayed at the MGM Elegante and that was a bad choice.  Water line broke in one of the rooms.  Another had bad service and the other got his car broken into.

I stayed at the Quality Inn at I-40 and 4th Street, which is only 1.5 miles from the Convention Center.  It wasn't the nicest hotel, but the rooms were clean, quiet and about $60 per night.  They also had a shuttle service to the Convention Center, but I used my rental car.  Free breakfast in the morning wasn't very good, but the restaurant in the adjoining parking lot (Weck's), served excellent food and huge portions at a good price.

Just got back this AM (about 2:30 CST).  We stayed at the Clubhouse Inn on Menaul.  The bowler rate is $75.  The rooms were clean, the hot breakfast is very good, the two free frinks at the end of the night are a bonus, and the staff was very attentive to our needs.  The pool is outdoors, and if you get a room on the first floor adjoining the pool area it is great!  Many hours spent lounging and drinking cool ones (used the garbage cans as coolers - not all rooms have refrigerators)  Easy access to the convention center and easy access to several restaurants on Menaul (east of hotel) and all the cross roads (San Mateo, Lawrence, Carlise to name a few)  The ONLY drawback was that the jets in the hot tub were not working.  I give it an A.

The only bad review I have read on the MCM is the one above by Centers. But I will find out myself next Saturday.
