New Many Would be Honest - Give back 300
« on: April 22, 2009, 05:03:57 AM »
Last Wed in my men's league, a bowler bowls 300.  After the 12th ball strikes, he walks off the approach, straight to the scoring console and enters a foul for a 290.  The foul lights in this center have not worked for years.

No one saw the foul and no one called him on it.

Hard to say if I would have been as honest.  Would you?

Sounds like he was taking a stand against soft conditions.  Don't think I could do it but I admire the courage of anyone who does.

While I wouldn't have done it, because most likely somebody would be buying me some beer, that sounds very admirable.

Now that I think about it, I would've bought him a beer! So, in that case, I would do the same.

I wouldn't even have known I fouled I never look down to see how close I was to the line after I thrown the shot.

Sorry - but what does this have to do with the USBC tournament?

Honesty is the best policy, but i wouldnt have changed my score, even if i fouled, its not lying if you don't get caught , jk, i still would have kept the 300

I would have done it simply because if I knew I "technically" shot 300, I know I can do it again...
Thats always been my philosophy. If u shoot 300 in practice, you know you can shoot 300 period. Just have to concentrate on doing it in league...

If i knew I had fouled, I would have done the same. That's just me. In my mind, even with the scoreboard reading 300, I'd know it wasn't legit.

"Character isn't what you do when everyone is watching, it's what you do when NOONE else is watching"

While I like to think of myself as noble, it would be hard to turn down the 300 game. Since I have already had a few, I like to think I would turn it down and call foul on myself. If it was the only time I ever had one in my entire career, it MIGHT be a different story.

I've never been known to have unquestionable morals, but I do try to be an honest man.

I would call the foul on myself.
I probably wouldn't have noticed, though.

Since I am about 2 feet from the foul line, everyone would know if i fouled so yeah I'd have to change it.

don't the foul lights have to be on during league to be compliant?
or have people monitoring the lines if they're not working.
