Reno, NV - What to do?
« on: May 30, 2014, 10:33:44 AM »
I know Reno isn't the mecca of vacation spots, however there has to be some fun things to do. I have been to Reno a couple times, and we normally don't find too much excitement. I am headed there June 14th and am looking for suggestions. Will be there for around 5 days so need some ideas.

What is some things you have done that you would recommend?

Thanks all!

I'm not sure when is it, but I think they have this BBQ cook out thing going on every summer. If you like cars, there's a National Auto museum.

I don't gamble much and every time I go to Reno, I just eat and try to catch concerts/shows if any. Or I get checked out, pack up my truck, and as soon as I'm done with my squad, I drive back down to California and prolly hit the shooting range on the way out.
Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

Reno offers plenty of things to do actually. There is golf of course and plenty of it. But if you are not into golf head out to Sparks(about 5 miles away) to the Wild Waters park. Lots of fun for the family if you have kids and even if you don't.

Here is a quick list of the things I have done or can think of:
Rent a Segway/Take a Segway Tour (Silver Legacy)

Check out the Truckee River walk, it's just south of downtown. Lots of bars, trendy restaurants and art galleries.

Take in a Reno Aces baseball game. About a block east of the Stadium.

National Automobile Museum, on Lake street, just a bit south east of downtown casinos. This used to be the famous Harrah's collection.

Nevada Museum of Art is an interesting couple of hours. It's several blocks south of the downtown casinos on Sierra street.

If you have a car, or are willing to grab a cab, check out Fleischmanns Planetarium @ UNR. It's free except for some of the films and they only cost a few dollars.

There is also Animal Ark, which is about 25 miles north of Reno. It's more of a wildlife sanctuary for rescued animals than a zoo.

Silver Legacy also has a rock climbing wall if you are into that.
"If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?"

"If you don't stand for our flag, then don't expect me to give a damn about your feelings."

Bowling, a race book and a craps table.  How much more excitement could one need?
