Shorts?
« on: July 14, 2009, 05:37:56 AM »
Why no shorts?
It was 110 degrees.
No locker room to change in?
They allow jeans? Why not shorts?

Long pants/slacks in Vegas?
If they are required they could sell them...
I ended up going to a mall and buying a pair for $30.00.
(My mistake, I forgot to pack slacks).

How about dress shorts?

Opinions?

Have you seen most bowlers' legs?  No shorts is to keep us all from vomiting on the approach...

Funny, I thought of that, after I posted.

I had to wear 2 back braces and a knee brace in doubles and singles.
Made it doubly hot.

Duke,

You being from the old school of bowling should know the answer to your question. It was cool enough in the center when I bowled in May and it was 104 outside.

If they allow shorts, then why not tank tops and ball caps and cutoffs and no socks with the shorts and so on. Its the National tournament remember?

Also be glad you have a knee to wear that brace on, don't get a replacement and have it get infected and have to get another one.

I look at it this way.
Wearing shorts is ok if you're going out to eat at Mcd's or bowling league.
Dress pants are for classier restaurants and at Nationals.

You can find a nice lightweight pair of dress pants that you'll never know the difference.

2nd arrow is for pansies.

I know it was my fault...
I left the house at 4 am, to catch a taxi.
I had some light slacks on a hanger.
When I unpacked at the Golden Nugget, I realized they were still at home.
I went to an outlet mall, that only had heavier slacks.

It's 75 degrees in Chicago today...like heaven.

I know what you mean about tank tops and ball caps and cut offs....I forgot people don't have common sense.

Ouch! 2nd knee replacement?

I worry more about my shoulder, which has a fractured clavicle and tear in the cuff, due to a fall.

since they let the women bowl in capri pants, I think we are going to bowl in some "manpri's" or a pair on knickers.

Duke,

You have to remember that wearing shorts in some eyes shows a lack of respect.  While I would go along with you on wearing a nice pair of docker dress shorts you will find others who will continue to complain that it is disrespectful.  Good luck and stay cool.

I still think a pair of khaki shorts or dress shorts would look far cleaner and more respectable that a faded out pair of jeans.

How about the fact women can where capri's as along as they are below the knee and it was still hot the end of June bowling in the convention center.

Bull!  It is a national championship.  Dress appropriately and within the rules or don't go.

P.S.  Personally I think they should ban jeans also.

Call me new school, but I think you should be able to bowl in whatever makes you feel comfortable.  Who cares if you wear shorts and a cutoff?  I sure as heck don't.  In no other sport are you FORCED to compete in clothing that can prove uncomfortable.  Even in golf you can rock a pair of shorts if you want to...but you know the difference?  They are paid to do what they do.  We are not professionals, so why try to force rules on us when we are paying not only to compete, but also to travel to the tournament.
