Why is the pattern never of the longer variety?

I practiced a little on the Nationals pattern at my home center before going to Vegas last year, and the difference in how the shot played at home (different brand of oil, AMF HPLs instead of Brunswick Anvilane) from Vegas was night and day. I need a lot more surface than I anticipated in the tournament. The breakpoint was about 2-3 boards further inside because my ball was not picking up as soon on the lane as it did at my home center. Even in the minor events on the burn, it still played tighter than I anticipated, and I ended up using a Gravity Shift sanded down by hand with Valentino's Resurrection, and still felt like I could have used a touch more surface on the second pair of lanes I went to that played a little tight downlane compared to the first pair. Conversely, I threw polished stuff at home center on the same oil pattern!

Well put. My home house has 2 year old Brunswick Pro Anvilane and the practice shot was about 3-5 boards different than Cashman Center last year.

Did anyone practice at the Silver Nugget last year? That was a complete waste of time and money.

Could the main factor be because the lanes in the convention centers are brand new vs however old the home center lanes are? Of course there are other factors like temp, altitude, oil machine, etc.

Was the Silver Nugget where they had the BTM at? If so, I did practice there and it was a waste of time but it was cheap at a buck a game.

They did make it shorter in Corpus Christi in '06 as it was 37 feet. Outside the second arrow was in play the whole tournament. Good outside, tournament type players shot lights out as Wendy McPherson won the singles with 814. Of course the chuck it right crowd couldn't get anything to stay off the headpin.

I don't recall getting inside of 10 until the singles squad when we were the third shift on the extreme burn.

What's funny is they won't be the ones complaining the most. It will be the crowbar kings that need the bounce right to get their equipment to come back.

I personally would love to see them make the pattern shorter one year around 35/36 feet.
