Using the Riggs method in Team
« on: May 11, 2010, 01:56:30 PM »
So how many on here have gone to the Nationals this year and the team used Riggs method to open up the lanes in Team event. If you did, were you successful? If you were or were not successful what were your results?

We go in June and are talking alot about making an attempt. Our team has multiple city, state and other team titles from our area, so talent or confidence is not an issue. We do have one lefty, but although the companion team is not as strong, will likely play up the boards naturally. One of the sticking points on taking the shot is brackets. If each member puts up his own money, they are more likely to jump ship if things don't start well. My A game is deep and have never played right of 15 at Nationals, one of our other members plays along with me. That is not to say we can not play other areas, just preference and past experiences. We do have the opportunity to go practice on the Nationals pattern at a center in Dallas and plan on at least one trip.

You need both teams to be committed to a plan.

I believe you need 10 people, not 5.

This is why Riggs' teams split all their bracket action 10 ways

You really need all 10 guys that are committed to breaking them down, and playing them in the same general area.  You also need 10 guys that know how to adjust and chase the shot in.

Too many teams do not work together, nor have 10 players that are comfortable moving in when the lanes start to over hook.

It has been proven, year after year to win an eagle in team, you need two teams that will work together and move together on the lane.

fixed.

We have 4 teams going next week. I tried talking to these guys only 4 out of the 20 would try it even in a practice session. Most wanted to find there line to the pocket screw the team. One guy said I was crazy and new nothing about bowling he said @ the Nationals the shot has always been 15 to 12. I showed him info from Riggs and and others they just don't get it. I wonder why I always out score him at the Nat's and Have a higher ave then him I am not the greatest but I am open to try things and learn. So instead of fighting them any more My Dbls partner and I have found another team for next year who are open to trying. For 5 weeks before we go I go to 3 differnt centers that put down the shot to get a feel for what differnet lanes might do and the last week I work with Ron Hatfield a USBC Gold coach and Rhino Page's coach. The rest is up to me to make good shots and be lucky.

Bowl good and have fun
