The ball is equipped with a new Visionary weight block encased with a revolutionary cover stock. A special additive is infused throughout the cover material to provide a consistent reacting ball that can be sanded, polished or resurfaced and will retain its special characteristics. The shell grabs better in the oil like the particle balls but gets down the lane better than the original Scorcher and has more back end. It is an “active” particle technology ball but without the particles. The reaction is due to additives infused within the cover. This ball is designed for medium to heavy oil and has good length with excellent recovery but won’t over-skid in the oil as reactive balls do. Due to the special processes used to create this cover stock, color variances with light and dark streaks may be found throughout the ball. But, every ball contains the same material and additives, so this does not affect the performance or reaction of the ball – just the appearance. The specifications are: Color: Blue with green logo fill; Finish: Polished (1000); Hardness: 75-76; RD: Medium; Flare: Medium; Length (1-10): 7; Back End (1-10): 8+; Hook (1-20): 13 (oil)-18 (dry); Available Weights: 13-16 lbs.

I RECEIVED A SCORCHER NPT FROM A GOOD FRIEND,JOE HUTCHINSON,IT WAS A COMP BALL FROM VISIONARY,AND HE GAVE ME IT TO TEST.DRILLED IT WITH THE PIN AND CG 3-3/8 FROM MY AXIS.OUT OF THE BOX IT CHECKED UP AT ABOUT 15'EVEN ON FRESH OIL.TRIED SEVERAL SURFACE ADJUSTMENTS,NONE OF THEM WAS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR,,EITHER TOO EARLY OR NOT AT ALL,SO I DID THE ONE THING THAT WORKS BEST FOR ME,SANDED WITH 1500 AND PUT IT IN LUSTRE KING FOR 20 MINUTES,,,WALAH,,A WINNER.GETS THROUGH THE FRONT CLEAN,WITH GOOD RECOVERY,JUST HAVE TO KEEP BUMPING IN TO STAY ON FRESH OIL,,,HITS LIKE A TANK,,WILL CONTINUE TESTING AND WILL KEEP POSTING AS I DO!!!

I have this ball drilled 5.5x5.5. The cover feels like a plastic ball, and with this mild drilling it reacts like a supercharged plastic ball( meaning it moves a few boards).  I am using this ball for all my spares which makes it worth its weight in gold.  I was using a plastic for my ten pin and a TPS I for everything else.  The roll on this ball is very predictable.  To be honest I love this ball.  Don't get me wrong, on drier conditions this ball will move and move hard, but on oily lanes try the Granite or Midnight Scorcher.  I have not tried to tweak the cover because I am so happy to have a ball that has two roles.  I give this ball a solid 9.5

I drilled this ball with pin at 12 o'clock and the cg out about 3/4 to 1" out. I threw it on a double oiled christmas tree pattern 10 to 10, with the out of the the box surface (1000 polished).  I throw pretty good ball speed 15-17, and a little more than average revs.  On this shot I stood on 16 and threw 11 out to 8.  With this shot, the ball went about 40 feet, set and made a left turn to the pocket and crushed the pins.  But, when I pulled it inside a couple boards, the ball slid all the way to the deck.  Also, one last thing, I don't know if it is just me, but this seems to hook less the more I threw it.  I actually had to adjust right throughout my 4 game league.  For me, I give this one a 7.

i have the scorcher-npt drilled up 4x4 which puts the pin up next to and just right of my ring finger. small weight hole added 1" past pap to make it legal. left in out of box condition (1000grit). the ball needs oil in the heads! not a dry lane ball at all. am bowling on synthetics oiled to 35' buffed out to 40. the shot is fresh as they oil just before we get there, the back ends are very clean. i have found as long as i keep this ball just inside the oil line the reaction is fantastic. ball will get down the lane and make a hard but even turn on the back end. the hit is as good as anything out there. the core and the cover match up very well. the claim by visionary that the cover repels oil also seem true. very easy ball to maintain. i have just gotten a second npt and plan on drilling this ball similar to the first but dulling up the cover. will let you know how it turns out. unfortunatly this line has been discontinued so if you find one grab it. i know i will.

My info:

PAP 5 1/2
375-420 RPM
Lefty
17-18 MPH

Ball info:
4x4

I have not figured out this ball yet.  When shiny it seems to squirt like crazy.
When dull it rolls and hits flat.  I am waiting for a scorched condition to use it on.  When it smells the oil it just quits trying. So for right now I have quit trying to throw it.  I will try some other Visionary equipment.  This ball just does not get me going yet.

This ball is pretty unique. It has the smoothness of a plastic ball but sure doesn't hit like one! This ball hits hard like the other Visionary products I own. It is made for med to heavy oil. I don't recommend it for light to dry conditions. It is a neat ball but sorry to see it being discontinued like the Red Sorcerer.
