Well, it's true, after all the balls from visionary i drilled, with them when i was on staff, to even after that agreement was ended, i was still testing there equipment.

i must have gone through about maybe even 30 balls.  i went back to my ball tree in my house, to see what i had sitting on there just for nostalga sake, and i saw a few visionary balls, a charcoal executioner, my beloved burgandy gryphon. and my other gryphon the G-3. i picked it up and it had a large crack going from my ring finger to my weight hole about 5 inches down. this wasn't any hair line crack either. big enough to place some playing cards in it too.

well the ball has sat in my house for atleast 4 months maybe longer, and was never exposed to excessive heat or cold.

only thing i can think of is finger insert glue.

Who thought up this super glue crap. Does anyone really believe that. You only put in a couple of drops and all the insert co.s say to use it. That would make them responsoble wouldn't it. Just don't make sense.

If the grip manufacturers recommend it then I seriously doubt that the chemical reaction is causing balls to break with cracks big enough to fit cards into. The ball companies have issued no warnings nor the ABC or PBA. I have heard no proof from anyone, including this site that can offer any proof. The ball co.s void the warranty's because the drill holes are larger (than your fingers) which leaves less tolerance between the finger holes than recommended. Throwing a heavy object onto a lane and hitting pins repeatedly with a small bridege between the fingers is why balls crack there. There is also core separation, poor quality control, bad batches of mixes and a lot more reasonable explanations than superglue. Not buying it until you can prove it.

I have had TWO balls crack just SITTING in my LOCKER.  Both had INSERTS but the cracks were NOT in the bridge.  They ran FROM the OUTSIDE of one fingerhole up and AROUND the ball to the THUMB.  The bridge was NOT a factor in either of THOSE balls.

Um, you do realize that A), i am an experienced proshop opperator.
B) a former staff member of Visionary, so i have drilled alot of them most, using inserts and all using the same type of glue.

there are lots of reasons for cracking. everything from dull drill bits causing too much heat when drilling, to too much pressure when inserting slugs, to balls that are exposed to adverse weather, to brittle coverstocks occasionally. I even think there might be a possiblity about heat and humidity sometimes.

I've seen now every company have balls crack, maybe some companies are getting more complaints than others, but for the volume of them that are drilled it's not always surprising.

In this ball i must have changed the inserts about 3 times. and i use a minimal amount of glue.
