Centaur AMB Particle
« on: October 08, 2005, 09:07:41 AM »
I’m bowling on a modified PBA pattern league with the patterns ranging from 38’ – 43’ in length. Anything outside of 12 is ‘out of bounds’ and changes either to the left or right, and everything inside of 16 is pretty dry. This can make it really hard to try and swing it, especially if you are a lower rev player like me. My Total Shock grabs too early off the dry, won’t pick up soon enough in the oil and my Sahara will skid if you hit ANY oil or snaps. I’m looking for something that I can move right and play in the oil with, you know, particle.

How well would this ball work for a medium-low rev player, around 15-16mph (rest of my stats are in profile)?

It says it meant for EXTREME oil and that's what I'm bowling on!

How was yours drilled? I was thinking of drilling it the same as my TSA. 4 X 5 1/2 MB, pin 3" above the midline. I would think it would give me some length but still have some backend.

Any thoughts on the drill pattern?

I'm also thinking it could be a great ball for opening the lanes up. The one house I bowl at never strips the backends, talk about some nasty carrydown. Something that will have 'some' traction when there isn't any.

What kind of reaction were you getting?

OO the Centaur AMB particle. Waht a great ball for heavy oil. I totally love this ball. My AMB is drilled 5X5 from my PAP and is at grey scotch bright pad. At box finish the ball overreacted. But once i tamed the cover down made the ball deadly.....A+ on this ball

First off, if you do get this ball, put a length drilling on it just for the simple fact that you have 15-16 mph ball speed.  It has almost too much cover for the core it has.  I drilled one for a guy with 19 mph ball speed and a 275 rpm rev rate.  I kept the pin and cg within the grip line putting the pin under the ring finger and cg in the center of grip and he was able to play 12 at the arrows out to 5 and got the ball back to the pocket.  Bear in mind that our lanes are 42 feet of oil.  IF you get this ball, put the pin above the fingers to help it through the heads.  You may also want to adjust the surface by hitting it with some abralon pads up to as much as 4000, because with a 320 out of box finish and a length drilling, this ball will still bite the lane as soon as it hits it.  I would say a good layout would be 5 1/4 x 5 1/2 with the pin above the fingers.

Has anyone got any video footage of someone throwing one of these? I'd really love to see one in action.

what software do you use? I am not too happy with the program I am using, the quality wasn't that great and would only let me capture in either .mpg or .avi format, and the quality (as you can see) isn't the best...

I have heaps of vids of more people bowling with Visionary gear, I will be making a complation soon, stay tuned...

The Video is complete. Must be a problem with downloading at your end.

If you PM me with your email address I can email it to you, the file is around 8mb in size, so make sure our email can take files of that size first.
