What is the best solid reactive control ball that Visionary makes.
I have an Immortal pearl and really like it,but sometimes it gets a little jumpy.I really like symetrical core balls over asyms.

Have you looked at the Orge yet ? Good ball for Med., Med./ Heavy.

Some good reviews. If or when I ever get enough money, (no light at the end of the tunnel yet) this may be my next ball.

For lighter volumes of oil, you can't beat the Blue/Green Centaur. Extremely smooth, no flip at all. Maybe at 600-800 grit, it could be useful on medium oil.

I agree. The Ogre solid for more oil, and the Blue/Green Centaur for less oil. The Orge pearl purple is very controllable also for oil volume between the other 2 balls.

The original poster didn't specify ANY volume of oil, so I told him what I know. The B/G Centaur is an excellent solid cover control ball.

The Violet Gargoyle probably fits best on true medium oil, but I don't know how well it qualifies as a control ball. The original (orange) Ogre from everything I've read is at least a med/heavy oil ball, so I'm not sure a blanket statement about that ball is accurate either. That's why I qualified my statement the way I did.

So lets ask this question.

What condition are you looking for. Something for mediums?

Since your PAP and rev rate are comparable to mine, I would say to take a B/G Centaur and drill it with the pin at 2 inches with the cg at or near the center grip and no weight hole. That will give you control unlike no other. I have a ball drilled this way and there is no sign of flip on the backend at all and can use the ball on a variety of conditions.

Guys,

you're both correct.
The Blue/Green Centaur is THE control ball for light to medium-light oil.

The solid Ogre is THE control ball for medium, when the stock cover is either sanded finer to 2000 or 4000 grit or lightly polish, and for medium-hevay oil, when left stock at 600 grit or sanded to 800/1000/1500 grit, depending on your "hand".

I use my solid Ogre with a light polish and can't make it flip for love or monoey.

I use the B/G Centaur at 2000 or 4000 grit or 1000 grit+light polish and it remains a great control ball.

Inspite of being control balls, they will both HIT when used on the right oil pattern and surface for your release.

I agree with Steven a LOT. With your rev rate, MUCH above us mere mortals, a 4000 grit or a light polish on the B/G Centaur or the Ogre will likely produce a more snappy reaction that you desire. You must also look for a specific drill or rougher coverstock (1000 grit), like Steven recommended.

I'd still recommend the B/G Centaur and the solid Ogre, as major control balls.

FWIW, I think tog831 is looking for something smoother off the spot. IP is jumpy off the spot for most. B/G Centaur is the smoothest. Rev rate is high but that 5 7/8 over and 1" up means to me he/she stays behind the ball a lot better than most .

Steven is correct more info. is needed. What lane condition?
