Hi,

I'm not sure why, but not many people are posting their results on the Frankie May here.  Please let me know what you think of it after tonight, because I am very interested to hear what you have to say.

The responses I have been getting on this ball are tremendous, and I think it is only a matter of time before people start posting a lot of reviews on this site.  We have sold more of the Frankie May Gryphons in the first month, than any other ball we have released and I look forward to hearing from everyone.

Got my Frankie Gryphon today.  The ball had a 3-4 pin out and the layout was a 3 3/8 Control.  Out of the box (400 Grit) the ball just looks incredibly strong so I polished it to just under 1000 Grit and bowled one game with the ball.....279 with a stone 9 in the 7th.

What a great rolling ball....this ball lives up to all the expectations that were promised by Visionary.  The ball definitely holds it's line through the oil and continues its motion to the pocket with a very nice strong arcing move.  

As I throw more games I'll post more, but out of the box you couldn't ask for more.  I'm proud to throw this ball and it is probably the best addition to the Visionary line and most likely the best ball that will be released this year by any ball company!

Congratulations Frankie for all your efforts and dedication to the game throughout the years.  This was a well deserved honor and Visionary did a stellar job at producing an unbelievable ball and combining it with a fantastic name, The Frankie May Signature Gryphon!

Why do some people find it necessary to talk in only caps? I can't even read it because its so annoying.

On another note, this ball is a solid reactive, right? How does it compare to other strong solid reactives ala ultimate inferno, rule, triple xtreme etc. etc.? I saw one person throwing this ball, and the first thing that came to mind was "sanded original inferno." Rolled EXACTLY like I remember that guy throwing the inferno.

**Just a heads up, because of the flare potential of this ball, proshop folks need to be careful where they place the weight hole on this ball for High-Rev players as it will tend to flare all the way around the ball and over the weight hole if placed too far out from the center of the grip.**

One technique that has been utilized by May's Bowling and Billiards is to go about 4 (no more than 4 1/2) inches to the right (for righty) from the center of the grip and pitch the hole away 1 1/4 inch from the center a grip, this will give you the same result as a balance hole placed passed the axis without running the risk of flaring over the weight hole.

If you are not looking to increase flare with the balance hole, then you shouldn't have to worry about this...only if you're looking to increase the flare utilizing the balance hole.

Update to the FM Signature Gryphon.  To catch you up on the layout, it's drilled 3 3/8 control with the cover at almost 1000 polished.  

I'm finding out that this ball is fantastic on the fresh house conditions we have here in Northern Virginia.  The house shot is roughly 32 ft blended to about 36-38 ft.  The heads are oiled before league so you may encounter carry down early but majority of the time the backends are still pretty fresh.

Because the oil pattern is put out in the morning and only a head shot before league, the lanes will dry up a good bit by the middle of the 2nd game.  I'm finding out that I can throw the FM for about 1 1/2 games, switch to my 5 1/2 stacked G-3 for the rest of the night or even throw it for the remainder of the game and come back to the FM ball the start of the 3rd game being 12-15 left of where I started.

I'm really looking forward to finding some conditions where the oil will hold up a little better.  I haven't shot a game under 230 with this ball yet and I've got about 5 games on it thus far.

I need oil in Georgia - this ball has burned it all away! Smooth through the head, great midlane and HOLY COW! backends! My driller suggested to drill it so when I have a lot of carrydown I can pull this one out and keep playing. I haven't found a house with enough carrydown yet. Played it on a reverse block and it was in heaven! 3 fellow bowler bought this ball at Nationals, one came home and rolled 757 - the last two games he had the front 7. They have their bowling balls polished. I will polish my 2nd ball and give it a try.

So, from the sounds of it, this ball is made for heavier oil, am I right?  We don't have very many visionary users out here and almost 0 distributors.  So, I haven't seen the ball rolled yet.  How would this ball compare to, oh, lets say a Track Mutant?  harder hooking?  earlier? later?  It sounds like this ball will hook on anything and if that's so then I want to know what this AMB Centaur Particle is going to be like.  So, any info, please let me know.
