my first visionary ball
« on: June 16, 2008, 01:31:17 PM »
Its just what the topic says, I am looking to buy my first visionary ball.  What I am looking for is a ball that will be a good benchmark ball on a ths.  The house shot where i bowl is definitely medium and sometimes medium-heavy but i got a cell for that.  I'm open to any suggestions, i was leaning more to trying one of the pearls because i have not used a pearl for quite a long time.  I am looking at buying a ball by the end of the month.  Where I bowl i have not noticed any visionary products so i haven't got to see any of the equipment at use in my home center.  I'm a 190 average bowler and I am sure I will average more this year, I am still new to bowling and learning a lot all the time.  I throw the ball 16-17 mph with revs to match.  I look forward to hearing what kind of equipment has worked good for your guys.

The Ogre Pearl is an awesome ball, and would definitely fit into the roll as a benchmark ball.  I would stay away from the Ogre SS, as it does not fit into what you are looking for.  The SS is the opposite of benchmark imho.

I was thinking the same thing.  Also from reading through the reviews, the AMB centaur sounds like it is a really good benchmark ball as well. It sounds like I can't go wrong with either one.

i am completely sold on my Ogre Pearl. it's so easy to control, but has plenty of pop. definitely my benchmark, it reads the lanes so easily it's hard not to line up with it. i HIGHLY recommend it. good luck, and let us know what you do.

I think a AMB Centaur would be along the lines of the Cell, but maybe not as strong.  I believe the Centaur needs head oil and for the most part, you'd be adding another ball that's going to require the oil up front.

My personal experience is to always have one or two pearls that compliment a solid.  The Cell is a good ball...used it...love it....move on the Gladiator and love that instead (LOL).  But I need to have Pearls to go along with it as a one-two punch.  Ogre Pearl = great ball!!

Also....don't discount a nice reactive that's not as strong as the Cell.  A nice Violet Gargoyle for example.  Very well rounded reactive ball.
