Can anyone tell me if this ball is available yet? I'm having a hard time finding it for sale, besides ebay. I've also noticed that there aren't many online proshops that carry Visionary. Is it because they are a smaller company?

Good to hear Rock77.  Let us know how you get along with the Ogre.  I have adjusted my surface quite a bit for different lane conditions.

My Ogre at 4000 abralon with no polisgh clears the heads great...with more surface, this would be one heck of a benchmark ball for many types of bowlers.

I know what I think of mine...lets us know about yours Rock after you toss it!

Will do. I've decided to take your suggestion Clint on the drill. I think you had called it a label leverage drill. Keep the pin no higher than even with the fingers and put the cg in the palm. As for the cover, I'm not even going to throw the ball at 600. I am going to drill it and immediately take it up to 2000 grit abralon. This will give a bit more bite than yours and hopefully turn it into the benchmark piece I've been looking for. Hopefully, there will be a box on my doorstep when I get home!!

I threw my ogre at 600 oob it hooked more than my odyssey at 2000 and my fury at 1000 polished, ball was super early but kept on hooking. I am going to take to 1000 and see if it can handle being the 1 st ball out of the bag for wednesday night league which is pretty fresh medium-heavy most nights.

I got this ball locally for a great deal it only retails for 153.95, so maybe having your local pro shop is just a better route for most on here. Alot of performance for a cheap price it might be one of best cheap balls ever made, it struck every shot brooklyn i threw it. I honestly could not believe at 600 at .029 diff how much hook this ball has in it, will report back thursday on it.

Depnding on lane condition and your stats.  I don't see too many folks using at OOB 600 matte.  Unless they are high speed fluffers.  That's just me.  Not too many floods on THS around the country.

For me between 1500 compound grit and 2000 abralon seems to work best.  Shot some nice tourney and league scores with it so far.  Have around 20 some games on it.  Nice piece.  You definietly don't have to spend the big $$$ with a piece like this.

At 600 it is one of strongest balls i have rolled this year, it is going to almost unuseble to most as scotts33 says. I would say it keeps with balls with around .050 and 1000 matte area of most other brands, i waited until a few of you guinea pigs actually rolled this one. I have actually controlled myself alitte better and pick and choose my next ball of the week now.

I also have stopped almost all internet buying and work with my local shop even having them special order stuff like this in for me. I did snatch up the clear diamond saw yesterday from pdiddy for 90 shipped, too good of spare ball for that price.

How fascinating. Before I read Barry's reply just above, I wrote this to Scott, knowing he had and loves his Ogre:


"Interesting developments, for me, on the Ogre - none good.

1. Got the BTM review today, Unbelievable review: with the stock 600 grit finish, it's only useful on their heavy oil pattern. Yes, of course the cover is easliy changeable.

2. Got mine today after a call from Buddies yesterday tell me their shortest pin Ogre is 3 1/4". Damn! There are no 2" or even 3" pins availble yet.

3. Mine is virtually totally Pumpkin orange; very little black. Almost the most ghastly, ugly colored ball I have ever seen.

Despite all the above, I'll probably put the pin in, next to or directly below the ring finger and the CG below somewhere; it will need a weight hole. somehwere. Double darn!!! That will be control drill of some sort.
I will take it down to at least 2000 grit matte, maybe even 4000 grit matte, or 1000 grit + polish.

Maybe I'll try to get a 15 lb one if I can get one with a 2" - 2.5" pin.

I'm hoping to make it a control ball for mediums like the Blue-Green Centaur is for light oil."
