Scotts...please call and ask Jason yourself, it is a SOLID....

Pearl/solid I could care less it's an 80 hardness urethane and will react accordingly like the Blue Slate I imagine....was looking for input from right siders on ball reaction and what they are seeing.

I've been around Visionary for a bit.

I'll be comparing to my old Slate Blue as well. Had the SB when I dropped to 15# a couple of seasons ago. Hadn't replaced it, but now seemed like a good time especially on the dryer summer lanes.

3835 might be absolutely right, it could just be the color swirls that make it look pearlized. But I agree with you Scott, it has #'s and hardness very close to the SBG so it will be fun to compare!

it has the same hardness #'s as the thunder flash, natural and liberator so I don't see the cover being any different other then the final finish.
core #'s are all in the same general ball park as well.

I had a Liberator as well...the reaction was nothing like the SBG. The only way to get the Lib even close (and I never got the true smooth SBG reaction shape) was to take it up and polish the heck out of it. I, personally, did not match up well with the Liberator and that was with about 5 different surface changes. I matched immediately with the SBG, drilled SL/OOB finish, by merely putting my hand in the ball. I will see tonight...if the lanes allow for it. Very rainy here in SW FL (and only in the low 80's) so the temp is rather cool for this time of year. If the lanes don't dry out as quickly tonight, I'll try again on Thursday.

I got to use this ball for a game or so tonight. As the lanes got toastier (my Mars was WAY too strong) I decided to test this ball against my Neptune (and my memory of the SBG and the Liberator).

This ball did NOT overreact off the dry. OOB the Liberator did, and tonight, even the Neptune was pretty snappy on the dry outsides. This ball was smooth, nice and long, sweet and even. I thought it was very similar to my old SBG but more archy, and even more controllable.

This is just a small sample size...however, this appears to be one easily controlled dry lane ball. I experienced zero overreaction off the dry and a very solid flush hit through the pocket. It was fun to throw, hope to get to use it more frequently.

thanks for the info golfnut. did you have to put alot of hand in the ball, do you think a lower rev play will find it useful? what finish did you put your liberator to be comfortable at?

More than stoker hand, but not much more. I can get up to about mid-tweener level but saw no need. I think a lower rev player will find this ball useful on light-dry conditions. This ball does not seem to want to "bounce" off of the dry, but really play the oil line and arc to pocket. Accuracy was necessary...

The best match-up I had with the Liberator took a LOT of work. I had to bring the surface up one by one and then add polish painstakingly. And when I was done it still never matched up like my Slate Blue Gargoyle. I believe Visionary, which is not my dominant company, does the best job producing a user-friendly Urethane ball. This is the second one I found very effective without major modification.

However, every bowler is unique. These are merely my findings, especially with the Ogre Urethane. I had plenty of opportunities with the SBG but have just begun to explore OU. The first experience was positive. I will post more as opportunity to use the ball presents itself.

Thanks for the report golfnutFL.  Exactly what I was looking for.  Did you leave it OOB?  Was this on a wettish/dry THS and what lane surface?

I'm still thinking 2" from pap cg in center grip. polished cover, fast roll and a smooth arc backend.

Scott,
Yes, OOB. Synthetic Lanes...don't know which ones but it is a Quibica/AMF house if that helps. The lanes began wettish/dry THS and got progressively dryer, especially outside of 10 all night long. Impossible to play out there and inside still required pretty good speed to hold the oil line as it broke down.

The Ogre Urethane was able to play straight up 10-11 with a nice little arcy hook into the pocket. Outside of 10, even into the dry (with the amount of hand I was putting into it) was actually out of bounds and would not recover. Missing slightly inside, say 13-14, held the oil line pretty well and was just a straighter path to the pocket.

I've only used it this once but I was impressed with its usability and reaction shape for the shot I was facing.

It's pretty polished already and the coverstock is not that strong. I would not recommend a weak drill unless you have a lot of hand or really slow speed. Smoooooth arc backend is what I saw, OOB finish, strong drill.

hand I got.I tried that drill on a pain thinking it wouldn't hook much, boy was I wrong.I loved the way the ball rolled but it was to strong to square up with on fresh and not enough backend to play inside.

JMO...... sixpack but a Raw Hammer Pain with juiced reactive coverstock is not comparable to an Ogre Urethane.  Not even close.

What's the old adge drill a weak ball strong and a strong ball weak?
