For me, the Raven is stronger than the HyRoad. I'm not sure if it would fill the spot you're looking for.

With my Raven I went with a 5 inch pin to pap and a 30 degree Val angle. Full dual angle is 50 x 5 x 30 which gave me an option for a hole pretty much anywhere to tweak reaction.

The Raven definitely gave me a lot of downlane motion but the cover is pretty strong being particle pearl and box finish of 2000. It forced me left a lot with the strong backend. I even added a coat of polish on top of box finish and that added a little bit of length but the ball still came back just as hard if not more in the backend.

I settled on putting a hole an inch above my PAP to try and calm down the reaction. The extra hole really helped for me and turned it into the smooth but strong reaction I wanted. Still recovers well but not as violent anymore. It works better for me when the lanes are a little tighter because of the strength of the cover. I settled on doing 500/2000 by hand after I had it polished.

Would the Raven provide more "pop" than your HyRoad? It definitely can do that. However, it just depends on the lane conditions you are seeing.

 If the HyRoad doesn't have the pop you want because it is burning up, you'd want a ball like the Warlock Pearl from Visionary.

If your HyRoad doesn't have enough pop because there's more oil, the Raven would 100% fill that spot for you
