Watch where you place the pin in the Vibe. Or else it hooks pretty well. Tony Reyes has the pin above the ring finger and he uses it for spares.

Thanks for the credits
The Pure Hammer is a ball for light oil, but not necessarily a ball for dry lanes. Beware! The black ones uses a sheen urethane/recative coverstock blend to "mock" a smooth urethane reaction, the red one is a real reactive, polished. Both are pretty strong, more ball than many hopeful users asked for.

Both have low RGs and tend to read the lane quite early, and I suppose they will simply move too much and too early when you use them on dry lanes, even when drilled weak and to go long before they react.

Next best thing from Hammer is IMHO the purple Vibe, but I also doubt that it is really good for burnt heads?

Other balls to consider that might fit your bill are the Power Groove Dry/R from Brunswick (real weak/smooth pearl reactive), maybe the Urethane Groove, too (though it lacks a core, but a friend of mine does surprising things with it) and, even though recently discontinued, the Slate Blue Gargoyle from Visionary. There is also the XXXL from lane #1, but I do personally not give much on a polyester ball with a core (still it has to mentioned here).

If you're looking for Hammer stuff for lighter conditions, either of the Vibes or the Pure Hammer will have to be the choice.

From what I've seen/heard, the Blue Vibe is a bit earlier and smoother than the purple, which is said to go longer and flip harder. I have the Blue Vibe, and while it's good on lighter, it's still not a ball for dry, at least not for me. I use mine when my other reactives begin reading the friction too early. Still, even at that point, it checks in the later midlane before making a fairly strong, sweeping arc on the back.

I also have owned both the Black and Burgundy Pure Hammers, but I only have the Burgundy right now. Again, I don't really think the ball fits the bill as a "dry lane" ball. It gets more length than the Vibe, but it still offers quite a strong move. The real strength of this ball, though, is the fact that it doesn't overhook through the deck. When it arrives in the pocket, it gets nice, controlled deflection, promoting very good carry.

So, I guess which ball you choose depends upon what part of the lane you're looking to control. If I had it to do over again, I'd take a purple vibe, place the pin above the bridge and the cg in a weaker position that promoted very controlled breakpoint movement. I just tend to feel that pearls work better for such situations. But, depending upon your game, the drilling and prep, you could theoretically use any of the balls listed here for lighter purposes.

blue vibe is too strong for me on dry lanes....I will only use it on medium oil conditions.....I would suggest the Purple as it will go longer and still has a nice hook into the pocket....

Blue tends to hook too early for use on dry lanes for me...

Hell's bells, I'm using the Burgundy Pure Hammer as a "mild" (read: small hooking) ball for medium-light to TRUE medium oil, where others are using No Mercys.

I have 3 other resin balls, not drilled mild, that will easily handle less oil than the BPH.  I bought it for light oil, based on the BTM review, but it has not turned out to be even a light oil ball.

Make no mistake: I like the ball. It's very consistent - hooks the same all the time, with anything close to a decent release. Its carry is better than average. Pins don't fly but they don't stay standing either. It's a hard ball to put down.

It's the first Hammer I have tried with Hammer under the Ebonite umbrella.

I'm almost sorry I never tried the Blade series, as I think it had the same or a very similar core to the BPH. I wonder how much of the Burgundy's reaction is due to the core. Mine is drilled 4"x5", pin under ring finger.

I have always wanted to try a Pure or a Blade just for that fact that they are so similar to the Urethane Hammers, just with a reactive coverstock.  For a low rev, low speed stroker like me, I bet a Pure would be perfect.
Looking for any 14lb Hammers, particularly older oddball stuff.
So if you have a 14lb Faball or Diesel or Vicious or Blade or Hawg laying around shoot me a PM

Go with a PURE, Jimmy Cook from Team USA throws it and it works amazing for him. The Blue Vibe is smooth and good in that spot, but sometimes too much for what you consider dry.
