Which do you like better? ABS or Dexter
« on: February 05, 2005, 10:43:59 AM »
I am thinking about buying a nice pair of shoes from buddies in the future. Thing is I don't know if I should go with the dexter sst 6's, sst 5's, or the tour deluxe from ABS. They all look good and come with all the interchangable slides and heels. From experience, which do you guys think are worth getting?

PS: Anyone know if ABS gives you the chart of how much each pad slides? I know dexter tells you how much each pad slides compared to the next. Does ABS?

Had this post a ways back, just wanted to tell everyone I went and got the ABS Tour Ultras. I actually wanted the black on black but buddies shipped me the silver on black. O well they still look quite um...snazzy I guess and are very very comfortable. I actually stuck horribly when I first started, hurt my knee, couldn't get it right. Since then I've bowl about 30 more games since the sticking incident and threw 616 last week in league, which is my high series for this league but its only been going for 3 weeks so hopefully I will continue, on tuesday I threw my New high game of 288, and I must say that now since they are broken in I have never had such good balance and consistent slide at the line. They are wonderful and I hope my scores continue this way. Thank you for the comments everyone and ABS rules!

Do the Abs's have the same thickness on every sole? I have been using the dexter number 2 ripped heel and i went to swtich back down to my 5 at a tounrey and it was liek wlaking for high heels to a flat shoe. With the 5 on it was flat, with the 2 ur heel is in the air more so i couldn't change. I am intereste din Abs's if there all the same thickness.

ABS TOUR ULTRA is the best, cant beat the kangaroo comfortability and the adjust-a-heel is great, best part is you can buy Dexter sole and trim them to fit the ABS.

How do the sizes compare? I have the SST5's, & am going to be ordering the tour ultras.  10 1/2 in dexter & 10 1/2 in abs? is that right.

That sounds right, my street shoes are 8 1/2 and I ordered ABS in 8 1/2 and they fit just right.

fiveseventen,

the 2 pairs of black 6's were given to me as sort of a sponsor-gift.. The LX's i bought from a guy who's feet apparently were smaller when he tried them on in whatever coutry he'd been in.. And when he came back to Denmark.. His feet could in no way fit into the shoes.. Go figure.. And he didn't have the receipt when i bought em.. I just accidentally overheard him talking bout wanting to sell them.. I didn't really care bout it at that time, cos i just wanted to get rid of my own 6's..
And i punched some holes in the LX's cos they're so freaking warm! I bowl almost everyday.. My shoes need almost a whole day to dry.. So i don't think i can do anything about it, since i've "wrecked" them..
The most important part in buying a pair of ABS is the replacable toe cap.. Those are usually the first thing to go on my Dex's.. And i tried on a pair and they feel more comfy..

I had the Dexter SST5s and wore out the toe on the non-sliding shoe, resulting in the sole layers actually beginning to separate. So I decided to try the ABS Tour Ultras mainly because they had the replaceable toe cap. Well, it was a great decision! The Ultras are considerably more comfortable and lighter than the SST5s. On the Dexters I was constantly tying them over and over before league trying to get a good-feeling fit - especially on the sliding shoe which is wider. They fit more like a dress shoe where the Ultras fit more like a very well padded tennis shoe. Total comfort! You wanna float to the foul line? Get ABS!

I have had my ABS Tour Deluxe shoes for two seasons now and the quality and comfort are second to none. If you don't want to spend the money for the Tour Ultra's you can get the Tour Deluxe for $79.00.  Here is the chart:

I don't own the shoe, but quessing by the pictures, the cleats only fit in the "cleat sole" which has the proper holes to fit them.  The other soles are all solid pieces.  Maybe somebody who has the shoe can confirm or deny, or you can e-mail ABS.

The last 2 pair of shoes I have had were Dexter's and the insides came apart in both pair. I decided to try ABS as I figured they couldn't be any worse so I ordered some ABS from Buddies last week and they are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.
