Me Bowling
« on: November 28, 2008, 10:35:18 AM »
My family and I went and did a little open bowling today.  Asked my father if he would take some video of me.  Figured I would post it up on here.

I apologize for all the small clips...I've gotta gets some editing software so I can combine them.  Sorry bout the quality too, but they are what they are.

I would definitely not mind some constructive criticism, but if you are just gonna blast me or make fun of me, then don't bother posting....thanks guys.

Soft touch bowler with a real nice flat spot.

Great follow thru and wonderful extension.

I think I once thru like that...for about a week!

There are more powerful but a great stroker style!

Hey thanks guys.  The follow through is something that I have been working on for about 6 months.  It used to be very "flippy" and cut off.  I've really been working on getting some extension before the elbow breaks and really reaching out.

As for my style, I'm really kinda of inbetween.  I've got a decent amount of rotation, but nothing huge.  I've got decent ball speed but not overly fast.  It kinda lets me play where I want to.

In case anyone was wondering, I was throwing all Roto Grip...Epic Saga, Horizon Pearl and Neptune.

The house those videos were shot in are the house that I bowl my monday night mens league in.  The guy that owns it now bought the place about 10 years ago and it was a real dump.  He has slowly worked on redoing the place and rebuilding the houses reputation....and boy has he done a wonderful job.  He always has packed leagues and for open bowling he's regularly having people sign in when they get there he puts them on a list for when lanes open up.  Great house to bowl leagues in, as the shot is different each week.

Thanks for the comments guy.  More are definitely welcome.

Just curious...why is it good for an alley to put out a different league shot every week?

I can think of SOME answers...

1.  So one has to go early and throw a practice game?
2.  So one can keep their average lower?
3.  So more knowledgeable bowlers can average higher than just throwers?

I'm curious as to the positives of this situation and wonder if one of the 3 above is why it is a positive?

very good overall

however, how can u play deep inside if the ball return is there?
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Again, thanks for the comments guys.  Its kinda nice to have the feedback to know that I am indeed doing something right, the scores just haven't been showing it lately.

Its easy to play deep inside on the left lane on any pair.  But as was mentioned, getting deep on the right lane is tough.  Luckily, we don't have to get that deep very often, but when you do, just keep the speed a little firmer on the left lane.

Why do I think its good that the house changes the shot a bit every week?  Cause I think its nice to go there and know that you may not be able to play the same spot you did last week, that you may have to change.  I like having to figure out where I can play.  Some weeks the shot is playing a little more squared up, and other weeks there is some room and we get a little left and circle it more.

Wasn't look for nitpicking.

Others bump their own threads to keep them on the recent posts list.  Didn't know it was a crime to do so.
