The Impulse is a really good piece. I'd expect it to handle a slight ammount more oil oob than the Red. The IZ for me was a bit touchy out of box, but once I knocked off the shine it was a great ball. The core of the Impulse is an elevated rg as compared to the other zones, classic, strike, vapor, and red which I believe have the same exact core. The Impulse though seemed to be made to be a slight bit more than the classic before it, but much different at the breakpoint. To keep it from being so much stronger they seemed to have decided to elevate the rg.
If you intend to keep it in box finish I would certainly keep the pin low, but I also would keep the psa a bit farther from your val though than 45 degrees would allow. I think 60 degrees would be better. At times putting the psa so close to the val can cause the ball to check up and quit on the backend. Keeping it at 60 degrees you should make sure that the ball is continuous through the pins.
If your open to changing the box finish you may want to elevate the pin. I found that my IZ, once it was taken down to a lower grit, was really strong. I expected that knocking off the shine would give it some added strength, but I really didn't expect as much as I got.
