Buyer Beware Stormbowler299
« on: April 15, 2007, 04:59:36 PM »
OK, let me start by saying that I will not be able to defend this post until I get back home on Friday, 4/20/07.

I am not positive one way or another that this kid is not on the level, but I would like to share my experience with him, to possibly save some nice BR member from possibly being burned.

I have a small list of balls for sale and/or trade (says in the thread, only NIB balls) up on the for sale forum.  I was contacted by stormbowler299, offering me an Ebonite NV (not Total NV) in trade for two of the balls.  I agreed to the deal, but asked that he either provide me with some solid feedback, or ship the ball first, and I would ship the two balls to him upon reciept.  All was agreed upon, and he was gonna give the ball to his dad the next day to ship, because his dad works for the post office.  I was confident things in this transaction would go smooth, and even PM'ed onther BR memeber (Pate08 or something similar) to offer him a trade of the NV, for his Phoenix, once the NV arrived.  I get a PM the next day from stormbowler299, saying he was taking the ball to his dad at the post office, but accidentaly dropped it in the parking lot, and damaged to the point what he says, his drilled said is unrepairable.  I accepted this for what it was, thinking it sounded strange, but maybe the highly unlikely has happened, and cancel my trade for the Phoenix, with sincere apologies for having to back out of a deal that I thought was solid.  The next day, I am out in Reno on vacation for the week, and I log on to "ttt" my for sale post, only to find, that this guy has posted a thread, offering the ball up for sale.  I contacted him to find out what was going on, and he said this was a different ball, with different drilling, and he doubted I would want it.  I asked him for specs, and he says he already has a ttade for it, but he has a friend who has one, and his friend may want to trade.

Well, after writing that whole novel, I just want all the good BR memebers to know that something seems very very suspicious about this guy and his offers to trade this NV.  I have all our PM's documented, and can provide them as proof if need be.  I am sorry I won't be able to respond again to this until I return, but I fear if I wait to say anything until I get back, someone may have already been ripped off.  Like the title says, BUYER BEWARE!! -Kyle

Stormbowler299, it is you that needs to grow up. You keep making yourself look like a fool and your are acting very immature. You come off as if you are just 10. And you cannot just pull out on transactions like this with others, it is not right. You should apologize and probably never try to make a transaction on this site again, we have had enough issues with people like the 14 year old kid kevin manginelli trying to cause problems.

I would love to see you prove what is bogus about this topic. I'm sure not seeing anything bogus, its all the truth and its blatantly obvious what you did and you make it seem like lying is a fine thing to do, good luck in the real world dude.

I am not ragging and normally wouldn't say anything, but I admit that I don't read anything seriously that is written like what is above. I am more than internet savvy, but at my age (40 now) I am not an IM sort of person (and many people here on BR are the same). You are not going to be taken seriously by many people if you write like this. I understand the 'shorthand' for IM. But here you are typing on a keyboard, and it isn't too hard to write a coherent sentence, use a spellchecker, and at least capitalize 'I'.

On an even more important note. In life, just own up to what you have done. Lying about dropping the ball loses your credibility in my eyes. In the future,  you will have a hard time doing any deals on BR. I hope you have learned from this - that is what life is about, learning from our mistakes and doing things better.

Still going to have to build a reputation before people will trust you regardless.  It's already been stated, so expect it.

As for the balls that were bad....very curious to know exactly what you were trading for and what qualifications said people have in making the determination that balls were, what I guess I can call turds, since people told you they were no good.

As for MVPBowler, and I don't think this was covered, if it were me, I'd have every right to back out from a deal with you.  I've been here, though not as this nic, for a long while.  I've had probably 50 buys/sells/trades here.  With that comes the privilege to ask you to ship first and if you don't, I will easily rescind any offers made.  There are plenty of others that shipped to me first, and I had to do the same.

He asked me to ship first and i said yes, Then when i went on to get his zip code he backed out, he backed out befor kspept even posted this.

Also you guys are saying that if i have feed back it is totally ok to back out of deals but if you dont have feedback u get asked to leave the site....huh makes sense to me.

Being asked to leave the site is implied more than anything because of the statement "no one will want to deal with you".

Let me rephrase the backing out as I should have included the part of how you do it.  It's already been stated that there is a correct way and many wrong ways.  Of course it's ok to back out, but the ball being dropped isn't acceptable if it didn't happen.  That's already been hashed out though.

If there the ball was something I wanted, yes, I would deal with you.  On my conditions though, which you've said you accepted.  And that's fine.

All in all, people here, those that have been here, are more than accepting of others and understand that things come up.  It's all in proper communication.

And I am in the same arena as I was told by someone that he would get back to me on the shirts I had.....was interested and would let me know, nay or yeah, the next day.  That was sometime last week.  No word yet....go figure.
