Almost every manufacture has released one or several bowling balls with really bright colors.
I am picky when it come to this because it can cause problems when the ball is going down the lane and how you perceive the ball is reacting versus what it is actually doing. Light or dark mixtures can cause this problem sometimes if the pattern is just right to look wrong.
I have had this happen with a Brunswick c-systems Ulti-max, Hammer Grind(green black), Morich Awesome revs, and a few others.
The new DV8 Schizo was one I thought I would never try because of the bright/light color mix. However the ball looked better in person then in the pictures and was very happy after drilling. I am able to see the ball and its progression as it goes down the lane just fine.
That is why color is important to me.
+1
I personally prefer solid colors or balls that when rolled, look mostly like a solid color as I can read the ball reaction better. If it's the right mixture, I can read it as well. Sometimes depending on where your PAP is related to a large swath of color, it's either really good or really bad.
The Columbia Burst had 3 colors but when rolled have this affect whereby I can read the ball reaction very nicely. I really like my Blur Hybrid but for some reason where the silver streaks are laid next to my PAP, I don't like the way it "looks" rolling.
I didn't think I would like the Marvel-S with the large black and green swaths, but again, based on the way the color sat against the PAP, I actually like it a lot.
For me, it's all about being able to read the ball reaction. When you can, it gives me more confidence and I throw the ball better. Yes there is psychology involved but it is what it is.
