Flipsides
« on: August 03, 2004, 04:50:17 PM »
While doing my usual "flipping" (no pun) thru the latest BTM I saw the reviews on the new Flipsides, Shock, Panic, Fear ....and if I understood it correctly...couldn't you do this [on edit for Platinum] as a small 4 ball arsenal ?:
Shock
Ego
Panic
Fear

Yes?

You mean as an arsenal? There's quite a gap between the Shock and the Ego though. Put either the Wicked BRT or the Wired somewhere in there and u have a Flipside arsenal haha.

?????? The Shock is a solid Ego?!?! So where is the gap now ? NOW I'm really confused, and the Wired is a high performance ball, yes?

Yeah the Wired is a high performance ball. You never said anything about a low budget flipside arsenal. Although I kind of got the gist of it when you didn't mention the Alter Ego. Anyway, the Shock handles medium heavy and the Ego, although its specs say total hook of 46, actually hook less than that in real life, I think luckylefty said something along the lines of medium light. I'm not sure how much the Shock will outhook the Ego, and yeah they do have the same core and coverstock. 1200 sanded compared to 2000 polished. I'd stick a Wicked BRT in between if it were me. Anyway, the Shock can't handle floods, so I guess it won't be a "complete" arsenal.

Jeffrevs.  The Shock is super aggressive.  Think of a Rush(you Roto scrub! ) with the same midlane but more in the backend.  Very underrated oil ball.  Handles the heavier sides of medium very well.  The Fear is also a bit too strong for dry.  This ball is hell on the backend.  The increase in diff gives this ball a super sideways motion at the breakpoint.  You'd probaly have to stick a Wild in there.

While we're on the subject, DP3, or anyone who has seen the Panic in action, how does it compare to the Super Trooper?

A bit longer, and sharper on the backend.  The Super Trooper gets good length, low flare and smoothens out around 40-45 feet.  The Panic is a bit more squirty but more angular.  It'll get similar length, just more angle, and later.  This looks like a great Stepdown from the Wired when it starts burning too early.
