In need of a benchmark ball
« on: August 18, 2011, 01:47:35 AM »
Just what the title says.  I've picked up quite a few pieces over the years, however, I am missing that one piece that will help me get an idea of what's happening before league kicks in.  Any ideas floating out there for Columbia?

Anaconda with a bit of surface is a good starting point.

Now that was helpful, thanks.  I was trying to get ideas across the brands as I haven't any that I can't throw except for Lane #1.

Just a heads up, you should just ask the question in the misc bowling related thread rather than use a basic template and change the last part.  Now you'd have everything in one thread (which was already done a million times), rather than "spam" the forum.

Not trying to be an ass, but this would be beneficial from your point of view i'd suppose to monitor 1 thread rather than all of them.

Anaconda or Burst (since this is the C300 thread).  Burst is really good for control with a bit of surface as well.  I have both, one as a shiny benchmark (Anaconda at 1000 = polish) burst at 2000 a pad.

They both give me an idea of where I need to go in relation to ball strength.

if you are looking for a bench mark ball in our columbia 300 line up its gotta be the outburst or the eruption depending on speed and rev rate.  The outburst is the stronger and earlier of the 2 but handles polish well so that would be my recommendation.

Maybe pick up a Freeze, take the polish off, leave at 2000  or 4000 abralon. ( whichever works best in your house).Cover is strong, plenty strong for most ths. Got one pin below that is a benchmark ball, will come back from anywhere on ths. Moat don't realize what the Freeze is capable of.
