lighter fluid and a Brillo pad!

use the same cleaner on EVERY resin/particle ball. There is no special cleaner for any one ball!

Has anyone here ever tried the ball cleaner put out by Lanemasters?  It smells like it has acetone in it.  If it does, would it be illegal?  Or is a certain percentage of acetone allowed in a ball cleaner?

Actually it does not smell like acetone.

It IS idustrial strength isopropyl alcohol, according to Lanemasters management. It is legal for use, but not during sanctioned competition. It was supposed to be submitted for approval. I have not heard of the results yet.

If you want to use acetone, and not care that it is illegal. Go ahead but when you start to kill the reaction in your ball, dont blame us who say not to use it. It will only make your cover softer meaning earlier hook, meaning loss of backend reaction. We all know most people consider backend reaction to be hook. So if you want to loss what most people call hook use ACETONE.

302,

I say it kills reaction from what I have seen. A man who bowled in a league straight told me before, I clean my ball in acetone. There isnt much I can do but call him out on it but if I cant go to his house ang get the acetone and show he used it on his ball then I cant do much more. Yet over time he was forced to get a new ball because it lost so much reaction that this high performance oil ball was dull and able to be used on a burnt out shot that I was using a Desert Heat on, and I was still going left of the head pin. He was able to play right up 10 on old wood lanes right in the heart of the track area.

Also if something is softer it will hook earlier, the earlier you burn up energy the less you have to transfer on the backend so you lose backend reaction.

Also thanks for the video plug. I would like to state that what you seen in the video was to be dont with any ball cleaner. The only thing that should changed is the grit of the abrasive or the use of an abrasive. That is it, and only that should change. You should always go over the ball with a little water to make sure no cleaner leaves a film or anything after. That statement by me is just like the statement of "Never salt your meal before you tast it."
