Am totally confused...infinite one marketing
« on: June 13, 2006, 12:20:03 AM »
Reactions: Designed to be longer than the Big One, with increased backend ball reaction.

Coverstock: GB 12.1 sanded with 500-grit Abralon

Talk about total contradiction....500 grit designed to go long...yet soak up more oil....???

something's rotten in denmark....please explain....some ebonite staffer/bowler???

sounds like a "snake-oil" pitch to me....

You maybe confused and the only way to see what Ebonite is referring to is try it yourself.  I've seen it when a friend was testing the ball and it does clear the front better than out of box Big One (4000 grit) and backend continous more than any ball I've ever seen.  Actually he was trying to throw it into the O.B. and it still came back.  This wasn't on a house shot but on a PBA shot. Some balls must be available because some guys have the ball.

I am in the process of testing mine right now, and I can say that it does actually perform in that manner.  The ball will clear the front of the lane easier than a Big One and certainly has a more continuous backend movement.

Coverstocks can certainly be different enough that a 500 grit ball can clear the front where a 4000 grit ball cannot.

I thought I read somewhere that they inverted the block as well, this could be the difference your looking for if that is the case.

actually...the web-site....just makes my points valid!!!!

all 3 react the same (2-4 boards at most) when in "IDENTICAL" box surface...according to ebonite's OWN LANE CHARTS on the website...

and of course....the video's are only done half-way....by that I mean...TRUE surface to surface comparision was not shown w/each ball...

but enough was shown to let even anybody w/half a brain to see...they're OWN LANE CHARTS...are probably pretty accurate....

so in realty...no that big a difference in the 3 balls....

YES...the ONE is/was an amazing ball....

but the additional advances "CLAIMED" are very minor to say the least....very good dog/pony show...smoke/mirrors...everybody get's the point of this diatribe by now

youre missing the point of core design and dynamics. yes coverstock  is a big part of overall reaction. also they dont show drilling, which is a huge part of how a ball will act. you can drill any 500grit to hook early or go long. thats why there are so many different ways to drill. go over to the track forum and ask clint about all his roborules and gp2s. he has like 10 of each all with different drilling. im sure he has some that hook early, and some that go longer .

Tha Ebonite web site"ball spotlight" is down.  Looks like they haven't completed updating their web site.  Have to say Ebonite is slow on these marketing projects.  Storm is best as they update their web site most often of all the other manufactures.

I actually just viewed the Spotlight for the second time in the last week.  You do have to be a little patient with it.  But it should work if you have the right media player.

Can one atend a seminar even if they do not own or are unaffiliated with a pro shop.  I trust my pro shop operator and go to him for alot of advice, but I really like to learn about this kind of stuff.

Also would you consider the gb 10.7 to be stronger than any reactive on the market (other than Ebonite).  If not is there another factor that contributes to the agressiveness of a coverstock bayond oil absorption,

Mass Bias diff is the important factor in the reaction of this ball.  The 16lb One series reacts true to form with the others.
