New Unlabeled ball?
« on: April 07, 2011, 11:59:15 AM »
 Hi,

I have a friend who has a proshop.  He received a ball from Hammer to test.  It is unlabeled, and isn't supposed to be released for a few months.  It is some type of test ball.

Does anyone know anything about this ball?  Has hammer been doing this for a while?

I got one too. Box simply says "Made in USA 2011." Coverstock - Level 5 Reactive, color is called spectrum i believe; or something to that affect. No more information than that. Has a really wild rainbow color scheme though

I was looking at pics of it too and I noticed a biohazard symbol on it, could it be the second release in the infection series?

I saw a pic and a video of it yesterday. The ball was polished and it looked georgeous!  On the video, the ball was rolled really nice and strong!  Me likey!

I know it sounds like I'm in denial, but I'm not.

Isn't that the color voted on in there last poll on the website a few months ago? Probably going to be out with the other new stuff to start the season around July/August. EBI says all their companies will have fewer releases this up coming season. (allegedly)

Be good, or be good at it.

A bowler on my team tonight had one. Its like a test ball that one of the staffers gave him. Rainbow colored kinda like old V2 sweet only pearl but just as bright. Glides nice through heads and unleashes on the backend. Too bad i didnt take a pic of it.

Unlabelled balls - even just with simple colors - have been a practice in the bowling industry for a long time. Sending them to pro shops or staffers is IMHO a new step, probably a marketing strategy to create some attention and word of mouth effects, when customers/bowlers just see a blank and mysterious ball, and its owner can boldly claim to be part of a testing group and that the orb is the next hottest thing taht will hit the stores in a couple of weeks.

Just tools in a marketing plot...

When this ball releases you will know it..looks great on the lanes.. looks great on the shelf. I have a pretty good contest running in my shop now that has garnered a lot of interest and I have only had the ball since Tuesday..I am really surprised how much attention it has gotten since not many bowlers here were fans of the Trap colors..Maybe it's the intrigue that they don't know what it's called.. Pretty good measurement of how much a name matters to some people while performance matters to others..

One of the guys at the pro shop I frequent has been throwing this mystery Hammer piece the past couple nights in league. The colors are certainly eye-catching! It also looks really clean through the front part of the lane and seems to work better after the lanes have broken down some.

Personally I think it is really ugly, but colors are very subjective I know.  I'm not being a hater, it just looked to me like they took all the left overs and made Jambalaya.  I guess bowlers picked the colors, so I guess they will get what they wanted.

I saw that it had a marking for a PSA/MB.  So I was guessing it was asymmetrical.

Just thinking out loud I was wondering what drilling I would put on it.  I know some will say, just slap your favorite drilling on it, but I like to try and fit stuff into what I need in my arsenal.

I still think it is a neat idea, even if it isn't new.  It should bring more interest than your typical release.  People love hard to get stuff.

Yes this was the color scheme that was voted on by the bowlers in the poll we did not too long ago. As of right now it is just a test ball that was sent out to select pro shops and bowlers......very very select. We are very happy for all the positive feedback we have received so far. Hope everyone else has liked what they have seen so far.....Nothing Hits Like a Hammer!!
