Purple Vibe vs. Blue Vibe?
« on: January 15, 2009, 06:38:37 AM »
If anyone has thrown both of these balls, how do they compare?  Thanks.

Haven't rolled a purple, but I have a cherry and a blue. The blue is more even reacting and stronger than one would think. It can handle more oil. The purple is skid/snap. Take a look at Hammer's website for the film on the Emerald and you'll see the similar reaction.

I use a purple one. Mine has a nice controlable reaction,
not skid/snap. Ave. 227 so far this season with it.

it depends how they are drilled. the purple vibe was basically the same as my cherry.. my blue was earlier smoother and could handle more oil..I had the same drillaing on all 3 which was pin above the bridge cg stacked under..

Wow...not sure I agree with any of the replies on this topic yet.

I have had 5 Purple Vibes and if anyone can find me another NIB I will take it!!  I have also had 2 Blue, 2 Cherry, and 2 GREEN ones!

The purple is BY FAR the cleanest through the midlane of ANY of the vibes.  It is longer and cleaner then the Emerald and the Cherry, with the Emerald being the longer of those 2.  The Blue has the HAWG Wild cover on it, and it is the earliest and most even reacting.

Jason is right, the purple vibe was way cleaner thru the heads while the blue vibe gets into a roll sooner.........

The Purple and Emerald have the same covers on them, same cores as well, color is the only difference.

Roger,

I'm fairly sure I recall someone from Hammer posting here that they added something to the coverstock formula of the Emerald Vibe to make it different from the Purple.
(Both BTM and BJI says the Emerald strong enough to handle true medium oil, where as the other three were all rated for medium-light oil, no matter how strong the backend is for any of them.)

They may well have, all I know is the info sheets I get from them and , even though they don't always say about "extras", they both say the same, beats me.

Personally, I never cared for the color of the Purple...just something didn't 'click' with that color.

I hate when manufacturers indicate everything's the same and the ball's are worlds apart. It means they were not telling the truth about one of the parts, like the coverstock.

charlest is right. The Emerald Vibe has the Raw Hammer Toxic coverstock formula around the Vibe core. This is straight from Jeff Ussery.

The Purple Vibe uses the max flip reactive coverstock if im not mistaking.  The DOOM had the Enhanced Max Flip coverstock which was a little bit stronger.  The Emerald Vibe has the Toxic coverstock which is not the same as what's on the Purple Vibe's.

I like Hammers, I'm a Hammer person, but if this is in fact right,
quote:

, then I am starting to wonder why Hammer doesn't say what it is/has done.

The Toxic had an Enhanced Max-Flip Reactive coverstock with the new Traction Pearl cover and the Emerald Vibe only says Max-Flip Reactive Pearl. I know, it's a few words, but if one is to promote a cover/core/ball, then say what the cover/core/ball is/has, not just a "short version".

I know, it's a few short words, but take any reaction of a ball, add or leave out a "few short words" and that may well make or break a ball and it's sales.

To each his own, I guess.
