No Mercy

Hawgzilla

No Mercy Beat'n (even though it hasnt came out i think the Hawgzilla would be better on heavy oil)

Well, the No Mercy Beat'n is supposed to be longer, more backend, and more overall hook than the No Mercy. But I'm not too sure about the Hawg Zilla.

I second the vote on the Anger.. The Anger I have drilled up will for sure handle more oil than the Hawgzilla and No Mercy. I had both of those and they where duds for me..

Who knows about the beat'n. I am not sure why people keep asking questions about a ball thats not even out yet.. Only a few touring pros have thrown this ball..

If you want a ball for oil, you can't go wrong with the Anger and for the price its a steal IMO..

Hawgzilla man the Anger is a mid line ball and will not be nearly as strong as the Hawgzilla

I have some what of a different view than many when it comes to heavy oil.  A lot depends on what you mean by heavy?  Then you need to take into account the length of the oil which, in my mind; is more important.

I have found that on long oiled patterns a strong pearlized skid/flip ball works very well.  I'm talking even if the pattern has a good amount(heavy) oil.  You want a ball that can cover some ground in a short distance.  Well pearlized skid/flip balls do this.  The idea is to get the ball to set up before it hits the pocket.  Well long patterns make this difficult to do.

The norm is to use a strong dull type of bowling ball for heavy long patterns.  This approach works well when the back ends are not very lively.  When the patterns is long and the back ends are dry then a skid/flip pearl is what I grab.

Then of course there's the totally flooded conditions.  On these conditions it doesn't really matter what ball you use.

Hammer has several balls that work well on heavier long patterns.

If you like to use softer shells then look no further than the NO MERCY.  The NO MERCY is an awesome bowling ball(if correct layout is used) that works well when there's a good amount of oil.  It will burn up on lighter or short conditions.

The new ANGER is supposed to be a very strong solid reactive ball.  I'm sure it will be a winner since it's got a Raw Hammer Core.  At least you know it will carry really good.

I feel the DOOM is an excellent choice for many conditions.  I like to use mine on long oil and clean back ends.  This ball is a really great piece that Hammer has made.

that is a totally false statement.. Just because a ball is a mid line ball does not mean it is weaker than a high priced ball..

Like I said before, I have actually thrown both balls with very similar drillings and for me the Anger is stronger...

I guess that some players' "bad" experience with the Zilla come from simple lack of oil - and rollout with no hook or carry. The Zilla needs some good oil and can handle at OOB (4.000 Abralon, if I remember right) a good amount of it and longer patterns. The Anger is supposed to be weaker - and if it works better, then I must assume that it is simply because there is less overall oil on the lane, and the Anger matches up much better.

IMO, the new NM Beat'n will not necessarily handle more oil - it will move more, but will surely need some dry to cling to to work properly, while the original NM will read the lane earlier, needs some good head oil and offers, like the Zilla, much room for surface adjustments if you should really run into true soup that calls for even more and earlier grip. For me, it is a dead race between them, but the Zilla should be cheaper.

I have had numerous conversations with Brian Graham with Hammer and he stated to me the Anger is the best oil ball in thier current lineup.. I know the Zilla is discontinued now, but for me the Anger is a stronger ball..

I'm not sure which ball is stronger.  In fact, it all depends on what you mean by stronger?

Also just because a mid-priced ball is cheaper than a high end piece doesn't always mean it's weaker.

Great comment Jeremy... My point exactly.. Mid priced means nothing as far as how strong a ball is.. The Hawg-zilla was discontinued for a reason. I know it wasn't that big of a seller..

Man, I just wish I could see enough oil around here to warrant the Anger or NM on the majority of conditions I bowl on.   Then, some are drilling the Anger at 4" ??

Man, I am lucky if I can go stronger than a 5" TOXIC.

I think a lot of people "fail" with a ball, because it burns up.  Most THS are not conditions suitable for the NM with a #1, and OOB.  Or, a Zilla.   Just my opinion.
