Pat if you dont mind me asking... You probably know your own equipment better than anybody. But why do you kick the CG to the right on almost every ball you drill? There is a couple simi-close to being a label drill like the hornet and buzz, but I was just curious is all.
Reason why I ask is because of todays balls andtheir flare potential, I get more out of a ball without shifting the weight and especially without using weight holes, etc. I love some of those balls that are drilled pin down with the cg closer to thumb. BTW, that resurection looks sweet!

Actually, I was going to drill it Label Leverage(had it all mapped out to take with me to get it drilled).  Then I decided to call Galen Gentry at Lane Masters and he suggested I keep the pin right and/or above the ring finger with the CG swung out or 4" x 3", so I decided to split the difference and place the pin above/right of ring finger. Which turned out to be 3 3/4" x 3(closed to what he suggested, 4" x 3" would have clipped the ring finger).

The Pin-up and Rico stuff I have isn't really conducive to my home center since they switched to the USBC White pattern, but I figured I would try another Pin-up version again with this one based on Galen's suggestion.  If it doesn't work, then Oh Well it will probably work somewhere.  I have had really good success with pin-down stuff, but really didn't want to drill it like my existing Sting.

I guess I will have to save the Label Leverage drilling for 1 of the 3 Black Diamond Pearl Particles I will be getting when they get released.  Most likely will go with: Label Leverage on one, Pin-Down on the other and maybe RICO on the 3rd.

Finally got a chance to use this ball tonight after league play. I was able to roll about a game and a half and comparing it to my Ultimate Power it was very similar in shot shape, but pin carry was a lot different than other Lane Masters equipment. It threw alot of pins sideways and kept them pretty low but just kinda scatterred them around (a little different than I am used to seeing). I was able to play the same line as my Ultimate Power (drilled Rico), projecting the ball from the 12-13 board at the arrows out to/around the 8-9 board at the 45' marker with a very good and predictable arc back to the pocket. I plan on throwing it again tonight after league play to see how it compares to others in my arsenal. I will report out after more extensive practice tonight. One thing I did notice is the ball did not want to recover when missed right, maybe due to operator error? Inclusive at this time, maybe thursday will reveal something different about the ball. Again, I will update after more use. -

Got a chance to use the Sting Widow Maker for the first time since my original posting.  League play has been on hiatius due to the holidays and my Original Sting had been performing so well as of late that I didn't see a need to switch equipment.  Last night I decided to use the SWM in warm ups and it felt ok, it was actually outhooking my Sting by a couple of boards and a little earlier.  So I decided to use it, proceeded to open up with a solid 10, then three straigh 7 pins.  At this point I was starting to doubt myself and my ball choice, stayed with it and shot 222 with a missed 10 pin in the 8th.  Next game proceeded to throw the front 9 before a hiccup in the 10th (left the 5-8) and shot 278, closed with a 218 for a 718 Series with one open frame.

The ball on this night as previously discussed above, has the tendency to throw the pins a little more sideways then most of the LM balls I own.  I never had to change lines throughout the night, the ball excelled on a shot that I sometimes have trouble with when bowling against opponenets who all throw straight plastic right up and all over the right side.  Usually need something that can handle carrydown better, but the SWM had no issues with it.

I plan on using it a little more since leagues are back into full swing and will report out in a few more days.

Update: Jan 7, 2011

Used the Sting Widow Maker in league tonight on my THS.  Shot 246-246-222=714 with front 29 marks(opened in the 10th of last game).  The SWM on this night did not do anything that surprised my other than just consistently getting to the pocket, except the last ball which I pulled through the nose.  Pin carry is still different from others in my LM stable as it tends to throw them around low on the deck.  Only left a couple of solid 10's, most strikes reacted like light hits but only a few were light.  Kind of strange pin reaction of you ask me.

None the less, the ball is a keeper.  Maybe I'll tinker with the coverstock a little and give more feedback later.

Pat, sounds like a great ball. I have a Hornet and love it. It works well on the white. But I have to keep angles straight. I really want this new version of the sting. When is it available?

There's also a review of the Sting WM (& the Terminator Resurrection) in the Jan.2011 issue of Bowlers' Journal.
I had seen the coverstock called "Venom Hybrid" but wasn't sure what it meant. BJI described it as a pearl/solid combination with a medium load of particles. I thought that was interesting as I don't recall a Lanemasters ball being described that before (even though many previous Legends balls "appeared" to have some pearl in them, they were always termed, "solids".)

FYI BJI also called the Sting Widowmaker, Lanemasters best benchmark among the past few balls they tested.

The pearl/solid hybrid cover intrigued me as well.  Mine gets more length then my Terminator, and has a stronger back end to finish.  I roll outside of my Terminator's track.  The WM revs up more on the back end.

The interesting thing Pat mentioned is the pin reaction being hit.  This ball does hit the pins sideways a lot more then my Terminator.  Slashing pins on the deck results in more pins being knocked down.

Threw the Sting Widow Maker again last wednesday during league play and proceeded to shot:

245-256-259=760

Everybody in league loves the ball reaction, I would have to agree.

Great bowling, Pat, yet again .... .

You need to enter a few more tournaments to pay for all these balls.

Getting a Sting WM drilled out tomorrow, need to decide what pattern to use and would like some insight if anyone can help out? My Black Diamond Solid has a great look, I expect the SWM to be a bit less aggressive but I'm not sure at this point. Can anyone advise what the look will be if I drill the SWM the same as the BDS? Will it go longer, have less overall hook? Anyone with experience of throwing both ball? Thanks in advance.

Drilled mine label leverage.  Can only compare it to my Terminator.  It gets more length and a sharper back end.  I use it outside of my Term path and it is strong.

Last week had 230-236-278 in league.  7th 27X with it this year.  It's gonna pop for a 300.
