*RED FLAG My ebay account hacked too
« on: June 16, 2006, 12:40:47 PM »
FYI
Okay this can't be a coincidence.  I have been a member of ebay for years with no security issues until today MY ACCOUNT WAS HACKED TOO. I know this stuff happens but isn't it just too much of a coincidence that just a couple of days ago another member of this forum had his ebay and yahoo hacked.  I am not trying to insult anyone or point fingers but I am seriously thinking that the info may be leaked from this sites' database

someone was able to log into my account and change my ID to "yepobrown"
Is anyone else experiencing any issues like this maybe you should check your other accounts - just a suggestion

This last Monday (yesterday), the same thing happened to me, My BR and eBay username and password were the same before this happened. Someone in Nigeria won close to $19,000 (yes, 19 grand) in cell phones and laptops. I was asleep while this was going on, and was awakened by a guy calling from the UK that I had won an auction from. Both the screenname and password were changed and I was locked out. I immediately shut down my paypal (which did have a different password, thank God).

I used eBay live help and they set everything straight pretty fast. I sent messages to all the sellers that I "won" auctions for, and one of them wanted me to pay anyways! Today, all the listings were gone, and it was as if I was never hacked. Luckily, eBay seems to be pretty understanding about this whole situation. Still a bit unnerving though.

Ebay is going downhill with this stuff all the time, I sell a lot of items on ebay for different things and have had over a dozen faulty buyers and I get a message from ebay saying someones account had been hacked into, then I have to go through the process of them refunding my listing fees which takes forever and I have to spend another week trying to sell it.  I am tired of it.  Luckily apparently they take care of it pretty quick without asking to many questions.  I feel all of yalls pain!!!

I also returned home from vacation on 6/11/06 to find out that on 6/9/06 I purchased a $862.90 cell phone off of ebay. This was also done in GBP(UK). I am not sure if it was paypal, ebay or my bank but the transaction was supposedly stopped. As of right now I have not lost anything that I know of but I am very leary of using paypal again. The bank has frozen my assests in one of my savings accounts and paypal has limited access on it, for how long I just do not know.

Based on what I have heard on this site I too decided to check my account and viola, it deducted $101.87 out of my account for a cell phone done in GBP(UK).
I just filed a claim with paypal, whoever this person/persons is/are they tried several times but paypal failed to complete the transaction until today. the $101.87 has been deducted from my bank acount.

So, I would suggest whoever uses paypal. you may want to check your accounts just to be sure..........

I've just been attacked today. I got an email today from Ebay saying that my email address has been changed and now my password is not correct. I emailed Ebay today, but I've already gotten multiple messages about the guy who hacked it is inquiring about buying freaking laptop computers!!! This is f***ed up.

how many of you use the same password for all of your accounts? Don't EVER click on an ebay or paypal email. it IS fake. Paypal/ebay does not email you to request info!! It is someone phishing for info. I have received 30 of these at least in the last 6 months. I forward all of them to ebay/paypal, and they "try" to track them. I suggest everyone change there password every 30 days!

What the heck is going on????
My ebay account was hacked too around 6/1. This guy from Nigeria bid on about 70 listings of Laptop & expensive Cellphones & tried to get the seller to ship it to Nigeria. He tried to get in to my paypal account, but failed bec. of security purposes. 5 ebay sellers gave me bad feedbacks & I have complained thru Ebay. I'm lucky enough that Ebay erased all the negative on my 100% positive feedbacks.

Rev is correct on this. A friends wife clicked on a fake e mail from e bay, thinking it was real (and it did look like the real thing).

Needless to say they got it all cleared up but with some problems, that are finally taken care of.

90 % of the time when there is  a probelm with E Bay or Pay Pal, some one has opened one of the fake e mails, and put some info on the fake page, you may not of opened the e mail but some one in the house hold has.
