#1 Average Killer?
« on: August 28, 2007, 10:24:15 PM »
Just curious what everyone out there thinks is the biggest average killer among not only beginners, but all the way up to "advanced" we'll call it bowlers...

my vote goes for single pin spares...

Try throwing your spare ball (unless you throw the fist ball in the gutter)at every spare you leave for a month and see how you do.

I pretty much do that now.  Very rarely to I throw my strike ball.  The 3-6-9-10, most spares with the 2-8.  That's about it.  Even if it's a "pocket" spare like a 1-3 or a 5-pin, I throw my spare ball.  I will try it, though, and let you know.

Unfortunately, I don't have any statistics to back me up, so I can't guarantee that it's helped.  I feel that I have a much better chance of making a spare with my spare ball than without.

Broken bones.  DO NOT punch or kick things when bowling bad!

I use Frames software on my PDA since going that way my spare % is much better because I can track it and know what I have to work on more.

I agree on shooting spares 1st ball strke ball 2nd or another spare 2nd ball.

Last game I shoot for a score...leave on a high note.

reading all the ballreviews.."hits like a truck", "best ball ever" then going out and buying thinking it will raise the average, when indeed killing it.

How much concentration does it take to pick up a single pins?

To me I think most that miss spares frequently (especially single pins) is a lack of practice.

What do you think about a 2-4-5-8?  Judging by your post you still use the reactive?  I am having issues with those lately especially on the PBA shot.  I have already converted my spare game to shooting mostly everything with plastic.  This one confuses me though because sometimes the plastic ball will deflect off.  Maybe I am approaching it the wrong way.

The number one average killer is missed spares you figure each spare missed counts as 11 pins you miss three or four missed easy spares a game and thats 33 to 44 pins a game you have lost.

I will take a good spare shooter over someone that can strike and never cover spares any day of the week on my team.
