So my good friend on my team shoots 300 tonight(650 series) and all night was throwing it in my face cause I haven't rolled a 300 yet. He has a 192 average, me a 210...I have (5) 700 series and an 805 this year...he's trying to say that rolling a 300 is harder than getting an 800 series. I said, how can shooting 300 be more difficult than averaging 268 for 3 games...so, what would you rather have? and which do you think is harder to accomplish???

I agree as well that a 800 is way harder than a 300....I am lucky to say that I shot both...I have 1 300 and my only 800 which is a 836.. i tell you when i shot the 800 i didnt even know i was on a pace to shoot it..I was sitting around looking at this Tuesday mixed league and one of my boys ask me if i could bowl for them...Now i didnt not have a warm up shot but had an ideal on how to play the lane..I just brought the BW solid and figure i need to practice with this ball...Man oh man...268, 279, 289 later i shot the 800..i didnt look at the score board and felt so relax which was shocking for me and didnt get nervous until the 11th ball in the last game which the 10 pin cost me 300....But i shot the 800 first and then brought a pearl cherry bomb for $25 bucks( ha, ha sucker) and shot 300 3 days later.. So 800 is tough just dont pay attention to the score, relax, and have fun..it worked for me

I feel that in today's game 800 is way more impressive then 300. I have seen some real hacks shoot 300 games to the point that 300 no longer impresses me very much to be honest. For someone to shoot 800 means they were on for the whole night and made that proper adjustments there are no lucky 800's IMHO.

There is no doubt about this topic. I just shot my first 300 game (257, 300, 200). I realized I had a chance for 800 going in to my third game but I was emotionally drained after shooting 300 in my second game. I was mentally tough for 10 frames, but to be mentally tough for 30 is something I would like to accomplish.

You know 300 is cool, and is the number most people not associated with bowling recognize. When talking bowling, people will always say, have you ever bowled a 300? I have never in my life heard anyone who is not a bowler say have you ever bowled an 800 series?

To the people that do bowl, 800 will always be more impressive.

The thing for me that is crazy about 800, is that you could throw 30 strikes with no opens and not shoot 800. It's all about stringing them, and stringing them in the correct order. If you were to go XXXX9/9/XXXXXX for 3 games you shoot 800....if you were to go XXX9/X9/XXXXXX all 3 games, you don't.

to me an 800 carries more signifigance since it covers 3 games, as has beeen posted on here before. one night this year I had 1 team mate shoot 798 while another shot 815. only difference was 1 mark. 798 guy missed 6 times with 1 split and 815 guy missed 5 times no opens. I've bowled both and its definitely harder

I've done both.
I'm proud of both. But the 800 ring is the one I wear.

And - the year I shot my 300, only 1200 or so women did it nationwide. The same year there were over 35000 men that did it.

I guess it just frustrates me that I don't have a 300 yet...the past few years I've been a 190-195 avg bowler and this year I was up as high as 220 and now at a 212...I've had 11 in a row twice this year(290 both times), starting with a damn 10pin the striking out...I've had the front 9 a few times and it just gets to me that I haven't been able to finish...in the past after I'd get the front 6 or 7 I'd be so damn nervous, and now I get to 8 or 9 and I'm still pretty calm so I don't think it's the nerves...who knows...

800 FOR SURE! i have been bowlinf since i was 5. my goal is still to get a 800 or higher series, current high 789. i have 1 sanctioned 300. i feel to ave 266.6, first of all you have to be on all nite not just for 1 game. 300 is still tough, but 800 has it beat for sure.

I shot my 821 at 17 years of age and later shot 300 next round of the tourney. I have not come close to that sense.. Im now 23. I have not displayed nearly as much talent as what i had then. With some dedication it can happen though. I can say that i was "in the zone" that day. Everything fell. I didnt know i shot 800. I was focusing on executing each shot. one frame games. I go front 10 twice and then a 2 pin for 2 back to back 289s. and then like front 7 slit next 4 or something like that...243. Didnt care about scores or anything. Just bowling. But i can also say that that 12th frame for your 300 is nerve wrecking!!!!My first one i went brooklyn my next two were buried in the whole. People stopping and watching. All of a sudded the bowl gets dead silent. Shooting 300 is tough..800 is a greater accomplishment.

Shooting 800 is surreal.. It's magical or something!!!seriously....I didnt feel like myself that day...When you shoot 300 you feel more like"It's about dang time!!" because really, how many times have we gone front 9.10,or 11 and get robbed. lol

This year a couple of 200 games would be good but I would say 800 is harder than 300.. After throwing so many strikes the lanes start changing and most of the time I make the wrong adjustment.
