900, and I was there
« on: December 10, 2004, 12:14:38 AM »
I am still in shock and awe.  I don't know if the word has spread much yet, and I probably don't have much credit since I have only posted once before, but I witnessed a 900 last night.   Darin Pomije, owner of Strike Force Bowl in New Prague Minnesota threw 36 last night.

Wow is right! Anyone got it on video? How many times has this been done in league before, anyone know? Congrats to Darin.

I've bowled against two of the people that have done it, but I don't know how many there are.

No, no video unfortunatly.   It was weird, he bowled the first one, and no one thought much of it, because he has a number of 300's, only a couple people even clapped.   Then he just kept going and going and going.   My knees were knocking so bad just watching him, but he was calm and cool.

Who care's if it's not a sport condition.  You have to carry 36 consecutive shots in a row.  Simply amazing.  I personally could care less if it's a walled up shot, it just blows my mind that a handfull of people could carry 36 consecutive shots in a row.

Inverted1,

Have you shot a 900 yet??

If not, why do you have to bring up the I bet it wasn't a sport shot remark?? Why is it that automatically people have to bring down a great accomplishment...(and yes even a 900 on a wall is a great accomplishment)....

Why not just say Congrats and leave the cynisism to yourself???

Just wondering why people always do this??

My congrats on the 900!

I don't care if the guy was bowling with a set of those toy plastic pins and ball. To throw the ball well enought to carry 36 strikes in one set is amazing, PERIOD!!

I also have no idea why people always have to bring up" bet it wasn't on a sport shot" Big fricken deal, the guy bowled great so just congratulate him..

I will say it, congrats to Darin..

If they only made a ball that would carry that da_n 7 pin (and I am right handed!!)

Who gives a rat fart if it was a sport shot or with bumbers up. He
accomplished something that 99.9% of the people bowling, much less
99.9% of the people on this site will ever do. Congratulations on a
magnificant feat.

I can only imagine rolling a 900.  I came 4 balls away from it earlier this year, but no cigar.

Too bad it was not horseshoes or hand grenades, LOL.

I would have loved to see it in person.  I bet it was a magical moment.

If your high series is 788 how does that equate to being 4 balls away? 300-300-188?

It is a wonderful feat and kudos to the gentleman I just hope that it passes ABC standards test. I believe I slighly understand Inverted's point. A few and damn few are thrown every year which is a huge feat indeed but somehow the lanes always end up failing the standards or it happens in a tournament where it is across more than one block although consecutive. Please don't misunderstand I  am not bashing just hoping the feat can be recognized by the whole governing body.

When I shot 834, I had 32 outta 36.  That's why this mere mortal believes to be four shots from 900.

900.  Unfathomable.  Like someone stated, 36 strikes with a Fisher-Price plastic bowling set is hard enough, but, the real thing?  Outstanding.  And, how about a big one-fingered salute to the complete absence of the news on any of the major sports websites.  It takes an underground movement here to spread the news.  Screw ESPN.  Screw CNNsi.  Great shooting Darin!

Well I consider 4 balls away going 300-300, then having the front 8 the last game.
