Anyone with a high 700 or even an 800 series without a 300 game?

My high series is a 782, and in that set my high game was a 268.  I've had maybe  5 series over 720, but my high game overall is a 279, 9 in a row.  For whatever reason I can't seem to get that perfect game.  I know it's nerves, and when I get nervous my mechanics go in the toilet.

I know there are other guys out there in the same position or guys that used to be in my position.  What did you guys do to get over that hump?

yeah.. me 2...  265, 279, 289 = 833

took me another 2 yrs to finally shoot a 300 and it was another set for the books: 165, 279, 300 = 744....  haha  had the back 23 in a row though ;-) .. solid spare shooting over the first 13 frames

My highest most consistent set without a 300 game came last year...

...280,   270, and 278 for a 828

290-277-279-846...I had 32/36 strikes, but at no point did I have 12 in a row.  I also missed a 10 pin in the first frame of the second game.

I only have one sanctioned 300, and my series was 623.  300-161-162.  I bowled the 300, and then concentrated on drinking.

There's a lady here in town that shot 290-290-280 - 860 a couple years ago.  I'd say that's about as close as you can get.  My best series period is 781, going 276-278-227.

276, 268, 278 - 822. Subbing for co-worker, no one in league had ever shot 700. I had never shot 800 before. First 8 the last game, left 10 pin. I yelled big time w/ joy (totally out of character for me) 'cause I knew after 30 years I was going to shoot 800. While I'm psyched and celebrating after making 10 pin rest of the place bummed, moaning and groaning 'cause they were hoping to see 300. Wasn't sorry to disappoint them that night!

288-280-299-867 32 out of 36. Area check 2-8 on fill ball in 1st game, 10-pin in 2nd frame 2nd game, 10-pin on last shot. I did this in 1998 in Victoria, TX. They told me at the time it was a record for bowlers over 50. I found out later it only lasted one week as Ed Vowell in Tulsa, OK had an 868 at the age of 51.

768 255, 269, 244 (Had the front 6 of the last game, left a 7 pin and spared it...struck to the 10th....got nervous threw it slow and left a 6-7-10 split...needed the first 2 in the 10th to shoot 800.
750 247, 279, 224
746 247, 247, 252
I bowled a 300 in a sanctioned league at the age of 15. 205, 300, 234-739.
A 300 in Open Bowling where I didn't throw a 3 game set.....and then this GEM right here in a non sanctioned summer league....171, 299, 195-665. lol  I left a SOLID 9 pin on my last ball of the 299....I am a lefty after all.
