Arsenal Help
« on: September 01, 2008, 06:00:27 AM »
I have finally realized i have too much bowling equipment and that a lot of it is second drill/older stuff that just doesn't quite hit the spot with what i want. I have decided to pick my newest stuff (cherry vibe, temper, and threshold) pack away the older stuff and possibly get a ball or two to fill the holes. Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what could fill the holes best. Thanks.

I don't know much about the Threshold but from what I've read I'm gathering it's a slightly heavier than medium oil ball.  If that's the case it seems it's a step up from an OOB Temper.  Is this correct?  If your Temper is dull then it's probably as strong as your Threshold but gives a different reaction shape(more midlane).

It seems to me that you're just missing a heavy oil piece and maybe a ball to read the lanes with, something for medium oil but with a more controlled reaction than the Temper.  To me the Rival is a great ball for that purpose.

unfortunately 900 global stuff is bit out of price range. my temper is oob still there is a slight step up to the threshold from that but if i really wanted to could dull threshold more and make it an oiler.

I think I good move for now would be to sand the Threshold and get a good benchmark ball like the Rival or Smash Zone.

Review the equipment you already have.  Select the strongest ball to start with.  Then select the one that is about a 4 board move (to the right for a right hander) on the approach from the initial selection.  Then select one that is about 4 boards weaker than the second selection.  These three plus a plastic spare ball and a willingness to adjust your shot will handle any THS you run into unless you're bowling on difficult conditions or a lot of tournaments.  --  JohnP
