I don't have one and I've been dealing with it with my medium oil ball playing the outside where it's dryer. When the lanes start to dry up I just move inside more. The entry angle is usually pretty good.

I understand a heavier oil ball will allow me to play deeper and it will "read" the lane better. But on wood lanes( I read that carry down is not much of a problem on those) wouldn't my medium oil ball "read" OK on the outside?
