Best/Favorite Ball cleaner
« on: February 03, 2011, 12:59:34 PM »
Im suffering from bowling in a house that apparently cant clean anything... My whole ball is getting covered in what is either belt marks or gunk from the backstop and I cannot get it off the ball for the life of me.

Things I have tried
Ebonite powerhouse
Alcohol
Acetone
Storm Reacta-shine? I think is what it is.

I am an avid league/tournament bowler and travel quite a bit from the Atlanta area.  I used to use Ebonite Energizer and have used Neo Tac's Liquid Nitro.  Both of these are good but ever since I was shown Tac-Up there is no going back. Its in a round, white bottle with blue lettering. Everywhere ive seen this stuff at the pro shop operators are only using it.  I believe they said its not even a year old and is spreading around like wildfire.  The guy who showed it to me cleaned half my ball with it and the other half with Energizer and it wasnt even close. The towel on the Tac-Up side was much darker and if your hands were big enough you can palm it from the top like a basketball.

I actually just found this info online after reading this thread. I sent them an email regarding pricing. I'll post it up when they respond.

For everyday use Zapp-it and for deeper cleaning dish soap and very warm water.  I also like the Lanemasters stuff but it smells really bad.

The best cleaner hands down, although it is not USBC approved, is Tenth Frame Ultra Clean.  Nothing keeps the ball cleaner.

legends still one great ball cleaner. Also use a little dab ofacetone if you need to get tough grime and belt marks off the balls coverstock.

Not sure we normally buy 100-200 bottles a time. You buy it from the factory. There info was posted earlier.

It's just very expensive acetone. Check the label. You can get pure acetone cheaper at Lowe's or Home Depot by the quart for $7.
Actually Lanemasters cleaner is better than pure acetone.  I test-compared the two.

Put some Sunshine in these opinions and go back to your high school science class and actually publish your experiement.  You know, the one where there is a hypotheis, methodology, results, and conclusion.  Right now all you guys are doing is writing new marketing blurbs that can go on the bottle of the cleaner.

If only Lanemasters were paying me to write their marketing ..
If only you had a brain ...
But I do have the Ignore function, and so you are gone.

What exactly is it with this guy?  He makes these unequivocal statements that LaneMasters is the best cleaner, says he tested it, but when you ask for proof, he uses the iggy list.  What the hell.  How did you test it?  Where did you test it.  Just another BR member with an opinion.  Please stop confusing your opinions with facts.

BTW, the iggy list works both ways.  Somehow I don't think I'll miss your opinions about anything to do with bowling.

For the record, acetone is NOT approved. It also can severely disturb the coverstock by softening it and even warping it with use.

Moosin' ain't easy!
