BR Gathering?
« on: December 31, 2004, 05:38:09 PM »
Just a thought......

How about a Ball Review Gathering during July that would include:

A clinic with Brad Angelo. This would be either a morning or afternoon session, maybe approximately 2-4 hours, including a buffet with famous Buffalo Wings. He does have a website http://www.splitvisions.com/lts/learntostrike.asp but pricing would be worked out.

Plenty of things to do besides all the bowling you can handle:
Niagara Falls, Old Fort Niagara, Six Flags, Fantasy Island, Wineries, Casinos, Auto Racing (asphalt and dirt), Micro Breweries, and a Firematic Racing Tournament.

There are plenty of cheap hotels (and I have contacts with AAA). If anyone would want to be in town on Tuesday and/or Wednesday there are Classic Shootouts scheduled. You can see how you stack up against Angelo, Tom Baker, Joe Ciccone, Liz Johnson, Jack Jurek (will be on Exempt Tour 05-06), and a host of other top amateurs ( see their bios at www.mybowler.com)

If there is enough interest, Brad, and possibly a few "surprise" instructors will be available. This would most likely be the 2nd weekend in July. BTW...this would be in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area...Western N.Y.  About 6.5 hours from NYC, 2.5 hours from Cleveland, 4 hours from Pittsburgh, to give you an idea.

Please keep me on your list as a POSSIBILITY! I'd love to go .. have nothing scheduled for that period .. But getting away for myself and My wife together takes a BIG plan. If this materializes I will try my best to get there. I'll be more definite as the final date gets closer. Thanks for taking the time .. I realize how difficult a task this is!

Ta you should also check into the Classic Shootouts here....Brian Green from the Batavia area comes every week in the summer. Great test of your abilities on tough shots against many top bowlers.

Keep the interest flowing, and we can have a great time. I will be contacting Brad this week, and post any updates.

I could be interested - I've got a couple of free plane tickets. Just mainly depends on the date/scheduling - and if I can get a day or two off work.

Hmmm, only 709 miles.  Sounds like fun with 4 children in tow...I'll have to consider it.  I went upstate NY this past July; spent 17 hours in the car with 4 children.  11 hours should be a snap.

Ok, with this many interesed to date, I will attempt the following:
Tentative date to be the 2nd weekend of July. Knowing Brad and his clinics, we may need to do a "pre-register" type thing, where we send Brad a small deposit, maybe like $20.00 a person. This would be to secure him (possibly others like Bakes), lane fees and lunch.

I will utilize my work contacts to get a deal at one or two hotel/motels. Also via work will have available information to pre-mail to anyone of all local attractions, like Niagara Falls, Old Fort Niagara, Casinos, Six Flags and Fantasy Island amusement parks, the Firematic Racing Tournament, local auto and horse racing tracks, wineries for tours, the Carousel Museum, etc. This will be for families and individuals that want to make a vacation out of it.

For those interested, the Buffalo International Airport, and AmTrack Station (Depew, NY) are both less than 10 minutes from my house, and many of the bowling centers. The NY State Thruway exit 49 (Interstate 90) lets you off right in the middle of the area's action for the gathering.

Of course on Tues and Weds there are the Classic Shootouts - Brian Green attested to the quality - and more ideas hopefully to come from those deciding to come.

Keep me informed as to your intentions, and I will keep posting as more info is available. In the meantime you can check out things on the internet about the area, or just ask me and I can get you links. Because besides great bowling, meeting up with one another, there is an awful lot to do around here.

Well it seems that we have already one person committed to making this a reality, and a success! Having read the thread here, he and I have communicated, and he has thrown his support, as well as some ideas.

He has instructed in camps with Brad before, and is well known to many of the "older statesmen" of bowling via many ABC accomplishments, and spending some time on tour. A very colorful fellow, and someone I have been lucky enough to get to know......

hey Brian - I think I'd like to attend this. Sounds fun.  Since I'm a 30 minute drive, and a former certified Niagara Falls tour expert, maybe I can do a Niagara Falls tour or two for the visitors.

However, I get paid in Seneca Niagara Casino poker chips.  Got that??

You're the best!
