BR Gathering?
« on: December 31, 2004, 05:38:09 PM »
Just a thought......

How about a Ball Review Gathering during July that would include:

A clinic with Brad Angelo. This would be either a morning or afternoon session, maybe approximately 2-4 hours, including a buffet with famous Buffalo Wings. He does have a website http://www.splitvisions.com/lts/learntostrike.asp but pricing would be worked out.

Plenty of things to do besides all the bowling you can handle:
Niagara Falls, Old Fort Niagara, Six Flags, Fantasy Island, Wineries, Casinos, Auto Racing (asphalt and dirt), Micro Breweries, and a Firematic Racing Tournament.

There are plenty of cheap hotels (and I have contacts with AAA). If anyone would want to be in town on Tuesday and/or Wednesday there are Classic Shootouts scheduled. You can see how you stack up against Angelo, Tom Baker, Joe Ciccone, Liz Johnson, Jack Jurek (will be on Exempt Tour 05-06), and a host of other top amateurs ( see their bios at www.mybowler.com)

If there is enough interest, Brad, and possibly a few "surprise" instructors will be available. This would most likely be the 2nd weekend in July. BTW...this would be in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area...Western N.Y.  About 6.5 hours from NYC, 2.5 hours from Cleveland, 4 hours from Pittsburgh, to give you an idea.

Forgot about the great golf courses within a 30 min drive....over 3 dozen to choose from!

And, most likely we can talk Doug & Bruce Heim from the National Bowling Outlet - who own the Big B booth at the Nationals into doing something.

If interested, check your schedules, and let's plan a fun "bowling" vacation.

That sounds fun. I wonder how long it would take to drive there from way down here in PA? Hmmmmmmm.

With this being only about a 2 hour drive for me, I'd have to say my interest is pretty high.

Sounds like a great idea.  Don't see why I can't make it, no plans for July yet.

Hmm, I think Buffalo is about 6 and a half hours from here....

Only thing would be pricing.  I'd have to save up...

I take it you don't go on long car rides BK?  pssh, 6 hours is a walk in the park.  When you reach the 20+ zone, THAT becomes interesting.

Well, in just a few hours we have some interest. So, I will contact Brad, and see what arrangements can be made. Might be able to swing some free passes to the Firematic Racing tournament too. Keep advising if interested, the more the better the pricing would be for the "clinic", and maybe some extra instructor's from MyBowler.com.

We have the following houses all real close: Transit Lanes (52 wooden lanes), Airport Lanes (one of the actually good AMF houses, 48 lanes), Thruway Lanes (52 lanes) , and South Transit Lanes (24 lanes). All within about 12-15 minutes from 6777 Main St. Williamsville, NY 14221 (my firehouse) if anyone wants to mapquest it for an idea.

Ooops, almost forgot Broadway Lanes....nice house with 48 lanes....right near the Airport and Amtrack too.
Keep me updated, so I can pursue some things...who knows, maybe Big B or even Dan Smith from Roto (only 2 hrs from here) might throw us a bone or two

I know you're just figuring things out, but what would be a general price for all of this, for everything we'd have to pay for.

I talked to the boss (my mom) about this, and she said if its torwards spring/summer she may actually think about doing it. Hopping a train up there, and catch a cab to wherever a hotel. The train ride would probably only be a few hours. Are there cheap hotels up there?

Andy,
I know what Brad charges for private lessons (from my son and girlfriend) and also what he charged for a 2 day youth clinic. ($40 hr private, and the 2 day youth clinics were $100.00 for both days with lunch, and 7 instructors including Brad, Tom Baker, Jack Jurek, Fran Bax)
My connections with AAA can probably set up some special discounts on lodging. As far as anything else at this time, it would be a huge guess. Depending on how many of us, and how many hours we have Brad and whoever else, I would say maybe $25-50 for bowling. But again, that is a wild guess. But if anything it could be less.
As far as the Classic Shoot Outs on Tues and Wed nites for adults (YABA can not participate), Brian Green from here can atest to the fun of shooting it out with some great bowlers....4 game qualifiers across 4 pair, then cut to top 1/4 for single elimination match play. And with so many present and past pro's here it's like a mini PBA tournament..LOL
Of course the actual bowling get together would be a Sat or Sun.
Let's keep the interest coming!!!!!!
