Can Anybody Contact Impending Doom?
« on: September 10, 2020, 10:07:27 AM »
Hey BR, fam. I hate writing this, but I don't know what else to do.

I sent Impending Doom $115 for a NIB 900 Global ball back on June 4th, and he still hasn't shipped it. He gave a few reasons as to why (didn't get a chance to visit his storage bin, problems with his kids), and I've been patient with him - pandemics are hard and I understand everybody's got their stuff to handle. But 3+ months is a bit much.

I tried PMing him multiple times, but to no avail. I sent him an email earlier today in hopes of getting a response, but at this point I'm feeling like I was had. If anybody knows him, or has a phone number I can use to directly contact Doom, that would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: changed 5+ months to 3+, because I struggle with counting.

It’s the right name because an established user here messaged me his real name 2 days before Average Joe publicly posted it. Same name.

It’s the right name.

And we know that how?

I'm just curious, I don't recall seeing anyone who bought from him coming forward saying it's the right name.

There's also posts in the 900 Global Facebook group years ago by that person that line up with posts made here. Just took a few minutes to search and match by dates posted

  • I have a name, therefore no preferred pronouns.

Okay, fair enough.

From reading this, it just seemed that it could possibly not be correct.

Same thing he did when he moved to Motiv equipment. He claimed he went to a demo and from there he was basically reviewing every single ball from the Motiv lineup by just throwing it once or twice and he was always talking about which ball he was going to buy and which balls he was going to drill and guess what? He never did...

Joe Lichner is the Motiv staffer from NW Illinois that was supposedly his friend.

Surely someone here knows this Joe Lichner cat, or someone on staff that can contact him.....  :-\

The plot thickens....

I know Joe Lichner.

The name that is public now - his Facebook page lists Joe as a Facebook friend.

I too know, Joe, not sure he's worth bringing into this, i'm confident we have the name right. I reached out to some friends in DeKalb and they reference Jeremy showing up for one week last year and being the "global guy" so everything is jiving here.

Man, this story just gets stranger and stranger.  Based on all of the above clues/signs, it sounds like he was a real wannabe looking to feel important or something.  Too bad as he seemed okay, but it appears that the truth is probably out now.

Normally truth is stranger than fiction.

Plus - it’s easier to fool someone than to tell someone they have been fooled.

And, its amazing that working or being associated with a shop gives you the opportunities like he had with 900global. But then again, i see people who are on staff that have no business being on staff.

Being on a staff isn't a reflection of talent in all cases, it's about ability to move product.

Not sure.

Every interaction was positive up until this.
I think he was very old school, and had the skills etc.

But life happens and people outgrow the sport, hence lack of bowl dot com info...

Like I said, I hope it gets resolved.

This is quite an interesting thread, I hope there's an ending to it where he reappears or someone gets in contact with him.

Being from the Milwaukee area myself, I have a few mutual facebook friends with him but do not know him. I feel like I at least know who a majority of the northern Illinois bowlers are who bowl tournaments.

Odd situation to say the least.

Hey BR Fam, I'm locking the thread for now.

Doom, if you're reading this, I sincerely hope you're okay and safe. In the big picture, I'm blessed to say that I can live with losing $115. And if you needed it for something, then I hope it helped.

Thanks to everybody for the help! I'm thankful for the different ways to contact Doom. One thing I've learned in 2020 is that 'it takes a village' - and this little bowling village is quite nice :)

Be well and stay safe all!
