Ever forget your equipment??
« on: February 09, 2017, 08:58:00 PM »
Tonight the team we were bowling against, their anchor man actually forgot his equipment--I have never seen that before, and I don't believe I have ever done that in all my years. He is a 190 avg bowler and proceeded to bowl anyways using house shoes and someone elses ball. It didn't go well for him or his team, he barely cracked 400 and they lost all the points.

Have you ever forgotten your equipment?? and if you did would you bowl anyways or would you just put yourself in as an absent bowler?

Using someone else's equipment wouldn't be a problem, because I know most of the guys who have things close enough for me to use.

Now, those house shoes?  That is another story.

Might just have to sit one. out.

I would bowl if I could borrow some decent shoes, even if I had to use a house ball, but I would never in a million years bowl league in house shoes.  Last thing I want to do is pay money to fall on the lane in front of everyone.

I buddy of mine who's a 220 avg bowler forgot his equipment.  Used house shoes and a friends ball and went 300/800.

I would never wear house shoes to bowl league.... As mentioned, it's always another week.

I have never forgotten the equipment.  There was once or twice I forgot the shirt, but my good wife delivered in the clutch!

It's always an issue of which ones to take with me, because on most house shots any of them are good if I am.

I have once;  I had intended to eat dinner at the restaurant across the street from the lanes before league, so I just turned around and went home and got my stuff.

I did end up missing most of warm ups, but it was ok.

I switch bags, either with my 3 ball roller and joey or to my two tote bags...well one time I forgot the Vise IT pouch in one of the bags. My spare ball doesn't have an IT on it, so I used that ball instead.

Just did this during the current bowling season. House I bowl at on Tuesdays and Thursdays is about 35 minutes one-way from my house. I was going early to toss a few games with my teammates before league started. Arrived at the bowling alley.....empty trunk. I could not believe it. Turned around, drove straight home, retrieved my stuff, and made it back to the house 5 minutes before league practice started.

I hope I NEVER do that again.

Yep. Forgot my gear once when I was late for league after having to deal with an issue at work. Ended up using a teammates Fab Blue Hammer and a pair of house shoes.

teammate has a much lower rev rate than me, and has a much weaker drill on his blue hammer than mine (his low rev rate and ball speed compensates for that), but I was able to square up and shoot low-mid 200s for the night.

But again, those house shoes. I never want my feet nor my kids feet anywhere near those for as long a we live!

Yep, been there, done that. My garage is behind my house. I take my gear out of the house through a sliding glass door and put it on the deck where I walk by it going to the garage. Put the gear out, locked up the house, walked right by the bag into the garage and drove 50 minutes to the bowling alley.

Nothing in the trunk of course, because my stuff is still sitting on the deck. I was going to buy some new shoes and just use a house ball, but the pro shop doesn't stock high end shoes, so I just spectated for the night.

I totally agree with everyone on the house shoes.  For me, it is more about my push off than my slide.  I can get used to the slide but cannot, under any circumstance, get used to slipping on my push off foot with a sliding bowling shoe.  I have forgotten my stuff before and used a tennis shoe/rubber soled shoe on my right foot and house shoe on my left.

I could deal with the idea of the slide and/or push off not being great.

I can't deal with the idea of wearing shoes that have been worn by so many different people.

I can understand this aspect.  For me though, my feet have been in worst situations than shoes worn by some teen who hasn't showered in 3 weeks.  (10-years in the Marine Corps will do that to you)
