makes you throw just one brand? (if you are)

I'm finding it hard in the last 4 to 5 years to throw anything else but Storm. Before I tried storm, I was liking Track and C300 (pre ebo) and the V2 by Ebo. Since trying Storm in 2006, I've tried other brands. AZO, LM, Bruns, Hammer, Motiv, and DV8. All these balls except Too Reckless, were all sold or given away.

Now that I'm slowly starting a new bag for Fall/winter 2014, I'm really hesitant to try other brands. Right now, I'm thinking Storm (ZG, IQF, and Breeze) for starters. But LordField looks good where I'll be bowling leagues. But.....I hate to try something and after surface adjustments and 24 games, I ended up selling it or giving it away. (There are a one or two Storm/RG balls I didn't like too)

I know there are advantages of using multiple brands, especially if I bowl a travel league. But, I think my style/game limits me to a few brands, and I just found only one for now...

They SHOULD have a booth this year, they're big enough now.  I don't know why they wouldn't, they have a big enough product line.  I don't know for sure though . .

It might surprise you, everytime I see EJ Tackett on anything, he's throwing it.  Yeah he's got a high rev rate, but he can play that deep on PBA oil volumes, that says something.  I think it's more of a medium to medium heavy ball.  It's really clean up front and covers a lot of boards on the back, but it's really controllable and predictable.

Thanks Gizmo.

But you're really not helping.....I don't need another ball right now....and you are making it hard to not try this one, lol.

Is Motiv in Reno anywhere? I thought last year they were in the Visionary booth. I still throw 16lbs, and I don't think anyone around here stocks it in 16lbs, and I leave for Reno next Friday, so no time to ship it without paying a fortune.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

Sorry for the delay, but I didn't see your question until just now. Missed it when another page was added to the topic.

Anyway, about the shock. I've had it for a few weeks now. Honestly, I haven't put it down. I know it's listed as a med-light oil ball, but I kid you not they could have sold it at the high performance level and no one I know would have been disappointed. The ball moves. A lot more than expected. It's almost as much as my Revolt. Not quite, and definitely a different shape, but it's close, line-wise.

Best part of all...the ball is awesome. Hits like a truck, great continuation. It's forgiving, and just doesn't quit. I did have a bit of over/under reaction out of the box. It says 4000, but mine was shinier looking than that. I hit it with 4000 and that made it a whole different ball. It really kind of feels like cheating throwing the thing. That, plus how good it looks as a bonus, makes it an easy choice. I feel bad for people who don't have one.

I tend to favor lower end pieces because I bowl on lighter/drier patterns. With my low revrate and average speed, would the Venom Shock be something close to the tropical heat (solid)?

Storms tropical heat solid was first out of the bag before I (sometimes) switched to the breeze pearl. I got rid of both balls this weekend and looking to try Motiv once more.....

I'm guessing a little bit here, as ivennever thrown the tropical heat solid, but I would imagine that the shock would be a little more aggressive. Should be able to create a simular shape with surface though.

Again, you might be able to get better insight from someone who has thrown both.

If 900 Global/AMF went the way of the buffalo, I would give a few Storm pieces a try, but I have to say that Motiv has been looking REALLY good.

But honestly, lots of Nick Siefer's designs have suited me. So I might just go wherever he goes.

The big reason I've been sticking with Roto Grip and adding some Storm balls has been that the reactions I get work well with my higher speed/medium rev game.  I've thrown balls from Track, Hammer, Ebonite and C300.  Even though they make good equipment, the match up with Roto Grip and Storm has just been better.

I have been thinking of possibly giving Motiv a shot in the future.  Many of their new balls appear to be really good.
