makes you throw just one brand? (if you are)

I'm finding it hard in the last 4 to 5 years to throw anything else but Storm. Before I tried storm, I was liking Track and C300 (pre ebo) and the V2 by Ebo. Since trying Storm in 2006, I've tried other brands. AZO, LM, Bruns, Hammer, Motiv, and DV8. All these balls except Too Reckless, were all sold or given away.

Now that I'm slowly starting a new bag for Fall/winter 2014, I'm really hesitant to try other brands. Right now, I'm thinking Storm (ZG, IQF, and Breeze) for starters. But LordField looks good where I'll be bowling leagues. But.....I hate to try something and after surface adjustments and 24 games, I ended up selling it or giving it away. (There are a one or two Storm/RG balls I didn't like too)

I know there are advantages of using multiple brands, especially if I bowl a travel league. But, I think my style/game limits me to a few brands, and I just found only one for now...

I bowl primarily with Motiv, but I do have a couple of rarely used Storm/Roto pieces.

I got introduced to the Motiv product at the BTM Super School when it was held in Middleton Ohio. We received a "free" Motiv ball, which was a GT-1. Since then, I have continued to use Motiv.

Why do I use only Motiv? No real reason other than it seems to match up to my style of bowling.

I tried the Primal and I just couldn't find a surface to let it roll for me. I don't remember the layout, but I think some balls just have limits when laying out a ball too. But then again, I'm not layout thinker....

I've had good results with all the Primal series, even the Impulse. But I assume you mean the Rage (Redball). Mine came new with a somewhat dull finish and I didn't like it until I polished the cover a bit. Now I love it.

xray,
I wish I had that scenario. I have had good and bad from a lot of ball companies. The only company that has ever really never worked for me is Ebonite. I liked the Big One, but it died within probably 50-75 games, and no amount of soaking, washing, baking seemed to bring it back....oh unless you count the Clear Wolf spare ball....I still have the same one I bought in 1996, lol.

I have only tried one Motiv ball, the 2Cruel. And I could not seem to get that ball to work for me. I was bowling in a Sports league/PBAX league at the time and that ball just never seemed to want to hook. Tried multiple surfaces, enlarged the weight hole, just nothing. I have been hesitant to try Motiv again after that.

I've thrown something from 95% of the brands out there at one time or another.  Right now, it's my unbiased opinion that Motiv has the best equipment on the market.  They simply do things other companies' equipment can't.  Storm would be a close second, but coverstock durability issues hurt them, their covers suck up oil at a faster rate.  The Primal Rage and Venom Shock boast the best ball reactions I've EVER seen.

As far as sticking with one company, most companies a decade or so ago didn't have such diversity in their equipment.  Brunswick was always early and smooth, Storm was always long and strong, etc., but since they've all started becoming more well rounded, I'd say it's perfectly ok, and almost better to stick with the company you match up with the best.  You'll be familiar with the equipment characteristics, but still have a diverse amount of shapes to choose from.  I've decided to just stick with Motiv, and I think that will be better than trying to mix and match.  Some people DO mix and match and it works out very well for them.  I don't think there's one better way than the other, but if you can't miss with Storm, I definitely wouldn't overthink it.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I had the primal TV4.... This ball on other peoples hands is a beast. Just not for me.

Jorge300 and Giz..

The Hyroad did it for me. Being able to use this ball on multiple patterns, yet give me the length and controll just sold me to Storm. Though I had two of these, the one with the higher/longer pin was picky. I couldn't use it on tougher conditions, only on a few THS.

I've had other people say the same thing. I LOVE the TV4! I have two drilled and one in reserve. One of the better balls I have used.

The motiv gt-1 is an amazing ball.

I primarily use Brunswick and have for years. It matches up well for me and ive found it easy to go from ball to ball and fill an arsenal. Ive started to add DV8 and Radical the last couple seasons with great success.

Ive tried other brands off and on. I have no complaints with any of them. Brunswick still just works best for me.

I was never really the one brand kind of guy. Until I threw my first Motiv. It was a Tribal, and it so greatly impressed me that I had to try another one to see if the company as a whole was better, or if it was just one release. I tried a Primal Rage next. One thing led to another and I haven't thrown anything else since. I don't see myself throwing any other companies again. I have no need. I use what I feel is the best possible equipment I can get my hands on, and I have confidence that they'll last longer than anything else on the market.

On another note, since I've thrown just the one brand, I find it much easier to choose new equipment. The shock for instance. I knew exactly what it would do immediately because I have a revolt and knew what to expect. I guess im trying to say it's easier to fill holes in the arsenal with confidence.

And btw, I legitimately feel bad for anyone who hasn't thrown a Motiv lately. Pays to have an open mind in this case.

Matt

I've tried several Brunswick balls and only liked the slingshot. I missed the on the original inferno, but the other three balls I didn't like. Ultra zone, BI, and UI...back then everyone was throwing infernos....

Likewise With Storm, they currently have everything I'm looking for. Making it easier to pick and choose. But there is that "what if" factor lol....
