You are delusional if you think ESPN should of shown a taped bowling show over the live Wimbledon finals.

You had the women's final with S. Williams,  the men's doubles finals that went 5 sets and the women's doubles finals that featured both Williams sisters.

ESPN isn't going to show some old men bowling over the Williams sisters.  The ratings and sponsor dollars are with the tennis finals.

There was weather delays at Wimbledon, ESPN doesn't control the weather or the officials at Wimbledon.

Under normal circumstances the Wimbledon finals should of been over with by the time bowling was set to be on.   There was no bowling, boo hoo. 

Now as far as programming goes a live event especially Wimbledon is going to take priority over a taped episode of any bowling exhibition. Seriously people you do know how low bowling ranks on the sports totem pole don't you?

Seriously, what are we talking about? Bowling? Taped? Not live, but taped? And and an exhibition at that.

It is a taped exhibition, no matter how you look at it. Although it is one of bowlings better telecast to watch, it ain't live, and it don't matter.

I remember this past season when bowling had its "big" major on "network" television live and it wasn't shown here because of.......NCAA mens basketball. Obviously that would get a lot more ratings then mens bowling and being in SEC country that is what was shown.

Better find another network and fast cause that ship keeps on sinking.

Formula 1 auto racing had the same problem with ESPN.  I think it even got bumped by a spelling bee.  The solution was to get their own network. SPEED.  SPEED covers all kinds of racing Le Mans, F1, Trans Am etc.  So bowling might look for another solution.  They already have bowl.tv on the internet.

Just another goofball gimmick show with no point by the PBA.  If you want to see it on time it deserves a spot ESPN 68 at 2 in the morning.  ESPN made an excellent choice showing Wimbledon instead of the PBA drivel.  Just another excuse to give what is left of professional bowling something to do.

Anyone who thinks TAPE DELAYED bowling takes precedent over LIVE WIMBLEDON coverage should seek mental counsel immediately.

Center court seats @ Wimbledon for the finals were going for $18k+, this PBA Shootout was free to attend. You do the math. Instead of wasting time complaining to ESPN go down in the basement, dig up your Bowling on ABC VHS tapes and have a nice day.

Right on.  You mean there are some guys who are actually upset that this B.S. bowling exhibition wasn't on?  Really?  I get emails reminding me that they are coming up and I automatically delete them.  Could care less.  It ain't bowling if kids can walk by eating cotton candy on their way to the Tilt-a-Whirl.

That shootout is like watching paint dry. Total waste of time to watch IMO unless you record and fast forward through all the commercials to see the maybe 10 min of actual bowling in a 30 minute show.

Whoever came up with this 1 shot, low man out crap should be shot..

We need to be honest.

Bowling participation has been going downhill for the last 30 years. As the number of sanctioned bowlers went from 8 million to 2 million now it obviously has effected the ratings numbers of the PBA telecast and popularity.

We feel a vested interest in the game but most of society does not and is not entertained by it.

ESPN uses it as a filler for time when they can not show major sporting events or against events that would easily defeat anything else they put on.

So they show bowling knowing it has a loyal following that will either tape the bowling or watch it live giving them some audience.

And I agree that when I saw it was a best ball event I lost all interest.

This is pretty much how it goes with T.V. anywhere.  If there is a live event going on, and it runs over, they will stay with the event until it is over.  Have we all heard the words "We now resume our scheduled programing." lol
