If you could only choose one to build an arsenal with, which one would you choose and why?

Personally, I would choose Storm just because I haven't thrown anything made by Hammer before (one of the few major brands I haven't tried). Plus I am pretty knowledgable about all of the recent Storm balls, so it'd just be a lot easier to make an arsenal that'd work with them for me personally. That's not to say Hammer wouldn't be a good fit for you or someone else -- Hammer makes some great stuff, and I've seen a lot of good scores shot with them.

I started out throwing Hammer and switched to Storm about 2 years ago. For me it seems that Storm equipment lasts longer. Hammer always died out on me after a few months. I still have the first Storm ball I bought and it still hooks like the day I got it.

I would go with Hammer their covers hav more longevity than Storms and hits harder/ carrys better. This is all IMO so don't rip me a new one Storm people

I just switched from Hammer to Storm and I feel the exact opposite of mainzer.

For me, my Storms hit harder and seem to require less maintenance then my Hammers did.

If it was me, I'd try one from both companies and see what matches up better for you.

My balls from both companies continue to hook. (In fact all companies).

BUT....From Hammer I have usually gotten a smoother more predictable move from their solids anyway.

From storm a bigger sharper move from their solids. Since I am a rev dominant player with a sharp backend type of action I like Hammer to smooth out what I already have. For other bowlers that desire more pure backend I think Storm has the balls.

Of course once one goes to pearls I believe both companies have balls capable of very sharp moves.

I just got a Hawg Zilla in and bowled with it last night. That ball kills the pins, carry is awesome and it has a big back end like the hammer balls have been said to have.

I'm a Hammer person, have thrown a lot of Storm as well. Right now, I find Hammer works better for me. Storm does have a bit better selection as far as balls for many types of conditions vs price points.

I'd suggest you do your research on both companies, talk to a few folks locally and see if one matches up better to the conditions you see and go from there.

IMO, you can't got wrong with either.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Ive talked to several people in my local area about this and the results were unanimously Storm. Theres not alot of people that throw Hammer except for the occasional Widow. I have done alot of research on both companies and I still to this day have no idea what Hammer's philosophy is other than "Nothing Hits Like A Hammer" It seems like Storm has the most versatility when it comes to building an arsenal but I must admit, Im a little worried about their longevity, Ive heard way too many horror stories about Storm covers.

I did have a Black Widow about a year ago but I sold it. It wasn't because I didn't like it, I just wasn't good enough to throw that ball. It way too strong and uncontrollable for me. My game has improved alot since then so I think I'm ready to give it another shot.

storms just plain out dont hook as much, b/t me and my friend we have tried numberous storm balls and nothing compared to some of the hammer ones.

Hehe, not with the team I was playing yesterday. Flat 10 and bad carry (split) city and our team's Storm stuff was killing it.

How about nothing hits like a ball that matches up to your style and the condition you are on while playing the most ideal part of the lane?

My dad's still throwing an old original X-Factor, and it's still the biggest-hooking ball in his bag. My Special Agent has probably 80 games on it and it's still going strong. You just have to remember to clean your equipment immediately after every set, and every 50 games or so it's a good idea to give your bowling balls a hot water bath and a light resurfacing.

IMO there is no one ball that truly will outlast any other ball given the proper care. There may be balls that don't last as long for one reason or another, usually IMO the bowler's fault but if Storms do better in your area, you can see the balls and how they react then I'd say look hard and long st the Storms.

Remember, no two people have the same results on a given ball no matter what company logo is on it.

I always have a good laugh with my mate who plays at the same house as me on these companies.

He has converted to Hammer & i have converted to Storm. He says that Hammer is the best ball company, i say Storm is the best ball company. He says Hammer hits the hardest, i say Storm hits the hardest. He says i should get a Hammer, i say that he should get a Storm. But we both have the same average.

But personally i think that Storm is the best to build an arsenal, due to the fact that i feel they will be able to cover the various conditions you may play on, whether its league or tourneys.

This is my opinion though & will not always apply to other people, but Storm just matches up to my style very well.

I like both Hammer and Storm. But for me, Hammer matches up better to my game. I like that I can tune the coverstock to the lane condition that I want to play. I like that I can put a lot of games on their equipment with no loss of reaction. I could not say that with the Triple Extreme that died on me. I do like Storm's Particle Pearl balls like the Depth Charge and Ragin Banshee. I also like the Thunderstruck Pearl and the Hot Rod Pearl (I wish I never gave that ball away!).

Storm has more variety. But I get the best matchup with Hammer.
