How much is USBC fees going to be this year?
« on: September 03, 2006, 04:11:08 AM »
Please don't say 20 dollars like I heard. That is absoultly outragous giving money to an organization that doesn't do anything and promotes cheaters ...aka Mushtare.

My area is paying $18 this year for sanctioning. $10 to the USBC, $2 for the county hall of fame, $6 to the local association.

National convention voted up to $20. Our local association picked $18.
$20 a year isn't much - 38.5 cents per week...

Added on edit:
If the cost of the certification (sanction) card is too much to bear, why are you in a sport where a decent setup of equipment can run you $500 or better (balls, bag, shoes), and practice can run up to (and sometimes more than) $4 a game??? If the $20 a year is going to bankrupt you, to ensure you have rules to follow (and procedures for enforcing them), decent lanes and lane equipment, a sanctioned average, and bonding of league fees (to name ONLY a few benefits), then find another sport.

Here, here, Mumzie!

For the record, my dues were $19 in the Metro Detroit USBC.

I'm amazed at how people will buy a zillion bowling balls, barely blinking an eye at the price, and STILL squawk about how much certification (we used to call it sanctioning) is.

I believe they are going to be $19 - $10 USBC + $1 CSUSBC (California USBC) + $8 NLACUSBC (North Los Angeles County USBC)  Both our State and Locals are newly merged, it will take some getting used to the new names.

As far as sanction fees, two years ago I paid $40 ($16 ABC + $15 WIBC + $9 Sport), last year $32 ($8 USBC + $7 SFVWBA + CASWBA + $8 LABA + $9 Sport), this year will be $28.  I can't complain about the fees.  Also, if you break it down into a monthly fee, it is just over $2/month with the sport supplement and less than that if you don't sanction sport.  What can you get for $2 today?

I paid $29.
$21 USBC + $8 Sport.
Not bad at all, considering the benefits.

$20 in Madison, WI up from $16 last year not sure of the breakdown local/nat'l.  No problem at all for me.  Sanction fees hadn't gone up here for 4 years prior to this.

WSGA/USGA annual dues normally from state to state run in the $25 to $60/yr range which include tracking your handicap.

Bowling sanction fees are cheap compared to a lot of sports.

I don't think its the cost that bothers folks.  I think it is the continued miss use of those funds.  Millions to study the effects of cg....ha.  How bout doing something that will actually improve the sport?  Limit "wallability" of house shots, aggressiveness of bowling balls?

Andrew and others - as my folks used to tell me, if you don't like the way things are run, get involved and work to change them...

Not to pick a fight - but it does work. If you don't vote, and/or don't get involved, you don't have a right to complain.
