My thoughts on todays experience in Akron...
« on: February 09, 2005, 11:58:50 AM »
I was a wreck to begin with. I had not bowled a PBA event in almost 2 yrs. It took me 2 games to settle down, nerves, excitement, anxiousness, all rolled into one don't make a good combination. I started with the Xception, playing up 5. With my fast feet, I'd either strike, or blow it by the headpin leaving some really ugly wash outs. in 10th frame of game 2, i switch to arsenal aangular, struck out to shoot a 137!!That put me at -120 after 2. Started game 3 with the first 5, then threw 4 out of 5 splits to end the game(188). went to the crash, rolled 199-198-206, all 3 games left a 2-8-10 or 2-4-8-10 in the 10th frame. Went to the Freak A Zoid in game 7, shot a 221 with 1 open. Game 8 same ball, 2 opens(1 missed spare, one split) 224. game 9, CLEAN GAME 223!! in total iwas was -129 after 3, then went +71 the last 6 to finish -58!

Started out playing up 5, was able to move it in to around 7, and finally up 10 out to 5 the last 3 games. I was really supprised on how the shot really never broke down. I was definatly a learning experience. I had the plaesure of bowling with Liz Johnson, and Patrick Dombrowski. They are 2 great bowlers, and great people. I got to meet a few people that I only knew by username, and that was nice too.

Feel free to ask me questions if you want to know more.

BOB,

We usually bowl with this pattern on those beat up wood surfaces with the dead side boards so the scoring never gets that high. The first version was strictly for the straighter game but they changed the way that the oil is applied which has allowed the big hand players to crush them.

YEP!! there are some "big hands" in the top 15 right now for sure! And they are CRUSHING it !

It's a marathon, not a sprint.  I never get caught up in the hype over who shot early.  At the end, the guys that usually dominate week in and week out(as well as dominate pattern E) will be there at the end.  I'm interested to see Jim Pratt on TV with his smooth thumbless release.  Hopefully he can make it that far.

At least, now that they've put the qualifying round back in, the round of 64 qualifies.

thanks for everyones replies. let's please not fight amongst ourselves. We are all "family" here.

I really appreciate hose's comments, both critical and supporting. He know's what he's talking about(goodness i hate to admit that)

Thanks jeffrevs for all of your kind words. I have read them 3x's, and I don't know why you got ripped for what you said.

my biggest problem was nerves the first to games. game 3, i had the first 5, lost the shot, threw 4 out of 5 splits to end the game 188

games 4-6, i had 206-199-198, and i opened in the tenth all 3 games (2-8-10, or 2-4-8-10)

games 7-9 were all in the 220's. I had a good shot the last 6 1/2 games. my biggest problem i'd say was ball speed, as in too much. If i got a little fast with it, the ball would squirt and leave 2-8-10 or washout. Up the boards isn't my "a" game, but i can play there with some success.

thanks again!!

LT, if you have had so much SUCCESS, why are you hanging out on this and the PBA board and not out there lighting them up in Akron?  You superiority complex sure comes through in the posts that you make.

Liquid do we really need to drag this back through again.  Man a year or more and you still have seen nothing.  Your ego is so huge you can't see past it.  I am sure you are a better bowler than me and probably 95 percent of the people on this board, but no matter what you come out with it is condesending and seems rude.  You say you want to help and if you do wonderful, but everytime you try to "help" it starts off with a back handed jab or you putting the board or the people here down or how good you were or how successful you are blah blah blah.  Steve didn't tear them up, but heck he gave it a shot.  Make sure you reply back and tell everyone how big a piece a garbage I am or how much smarter you are or any number of other things so that you can prove me correct.  Are you really like this in person.  Do you just wonder around and act like you are better than everyone and make comments like you do on here or is it your online "persona".  You get to say all the things on here you can't say in person.

I didn't jump on hose because while he is brash and abbrassive.  I take most of his as shtick.  A put on big time wrestling type persona.  I don't get the feeling that he is intentionally being cruel I think it is a game with him.  Hey you were right.  I was wrong I absolutely can't let some of the things go that you have said in the past and your past attitude.  I guess it is that sort of thing that makes me human.

Anyone that would nit pick you on your bowling there, would not have the balls to go an try it themselves!

Good job, and keep on trying!
