Pro Shops
« on: March 23, 2010, 05:21:20 AM »
Ok, now I know I get on here sometimes and say dumb things. But I do care a lot about Bowling and Yes I own a online shop. I just want everyone to compare. I realize Brick shops have to make money because of their overhead. But some of their prices are a little high. I went into one last week. They were selling the Dexter SST8's for $225.00. Online You can get them for $150.00. They had a Storm Virtual Energy for $229.99 + Grips and Slug. = $245.99. Online You can get it for $165.00(not drilled). So there is some prices that SOME brick shops have too high and that is why they go out of Business. EVERYONE is hurting because of the economy. Hopefully it will get better.

Okay I'll give you the Dexter's, but lets do a little math that people always forget about when buying online.
Lets see, you said the Virtual Gravity undrilled online is $165.  Figure around $20 for shipping, $40-50 for drilling plus $10 grips/slug.
$165 + $20 + $50 + $10 = $245.00  Please explain how the $245.99 is so high of a price?

I think it is more inline with what the local market will accept. We have maybe 10 Pro Shops in about a 15 mile radius from here. Two in my city less than five miles apart. One of the two here charges 189.00 for the Virtual Energy drilled. Another example is the Vise Hada precut patches. His prices are less than online @ $9.95 for a pack of 40.

If you can get people to buy at the higher price, make the money I say. If not, you have to get competitive to stay in business.

Because most Online Shops like mine do not charge for shipping with orders that high.

What about the amount of customers each one serves. Brick and Mortar shops don''t get as much traffic through the doors as the online shops get. Do these online shops get discounted pricing by quantity sold? Maybe the markup is similar, I know distributors have different levels of pricing. What happens if your ball cracks would a Pro Shop in your area handle the replacement?

What about Discounted pricing? If an online shop sells 1000 of ball X vs 50 of ball X in a Brick in Mortar, do online shops get discounted pricing? cutting thier costs way down?

I don't get special pricing. Of course I don't buy 1000 at a time.

Let's see you buy a ball online drill it it cracks do you think the shop will get it fixed for you? Hell no have you ever tried getting a ball replaced by a manufacturer its not always easy. You buy it at a shop they take the time to work with you get your pap help with surface adjustments our shop gives a free 30 mins lesson a free resurface and rejuvination. Online is one of the reasons I think bowling is going down hill

If your prices are so good, can you breakdown your prices?
I would like my cost of the following

C-System 3.5
Raw Hammer Jacked
Onyx Vibe

In regards to buying 1000 at one time, you don't have to to get price drops. its by level of sales. Level 50, Level 40 etc...
