Just like for a job except substitute your bowling accomplishments and industry associations for work history.

The only thing they really care about is, do you work in a pro shop? If you can sell their stuff, you're in.

Yes and no . . I've thought that before, but it has more to do with how many staffers are already in your area.  We have a total of 6 shops, but I can't get on with anybody because everybody already has at least 1 staffer within an hour's drive.  The requirements are also getting tougher.

Gizmo,

Or maybe it has more to do with-

1. you have stated on the world wide web numerous times that you would be worried about the perceived bias and wouldn't necessarily push a brand you were on staff with.
2. you don't own the shop so you only have limited input on purchasing

If you're going to post on the internet and let everyone know who you are sometimes it may come back and bite you.

I would say that the companies look at everything, experience, amount of travel you do for tournaments, what kind of person you come off as.  Gizmo was right though about it really matters what brands already have staffers in your area.

I would say that if you are told no, and you really want to get on staff just keep trying and you never know when a opening might come.

It's been a while since I've sent in a staff app . . but within a 60 mile radius, there are 4 Brunswick (+DV8 and Radical) staffers, 2 Motiv Staffers, a Storm (+ Roto Grip) staffer, Hammer staffer, Columbia staffer, 2 Lord Field staffers, and that's just who I know about.  Regardless of anything else, it doesn't make much sense to pack so many staffers into such a small area.

You can't fix problems with something if you're always singing and dancing, and to completely judge someone for how/what they post on an internet forum is pretty juvenile . .

I judged a specific attitude based on a specific comment, and used it as an example for another topic . . I don't see how that's completely judging a person in entirety.

People get fired/not hired for jobs for things on Facebook, so if you think the things you post on a bowling specific site won't make a difference in the bowling world, well, you're wrong.

I'm giving you the perspective of someone who has made staff decisions for both big and small companies, but I'm sure you know better than I do.

Is everyone here this touchy?  This Gizmo seems to comment on everything, usually negatively, but a lot of people seem to go out of their way to prod or poke at others.  He got defensive, but you made a thin connection to throw a jab at him.  Everybody needs to chill

I didn't say it wouldn't make a difference did I?
